Good, but not great. Jesus Christ was the greatest Irishman ever.
Born on the shores of the Lee no doubt :lol:
C'mon. Surely by now you've heard this one:

How do you know Jesus Christ was an Irishman?

Because he hung around with the lads all the time, lived at home til he was 30, thought his mammy was a virgin and thought he was the son of God.

The Duke of Wellington? Why? Anyway didn't he famously renounce his Irishness?

To achieve what he achieved by exclusively peaceful means itself sets him apart. Although lets not forget there was always a threat of violence behind the monster meetings.
What's with the peace fetish? You have a right to drive out the invader, by any means necessary and immediately. This fetish for non-violence peddled by the irish establishment and superficially parroted by the people at large is little more than a form of self-apology. You have the right to be dangerous, it's part of the foundation of your liberty, of all peoples' liberty.
Maybe some of us are inherently uncomfortable with the taking of life full stop.
I'm glad U said the above a chara;

As a former Combatant, it was always the problem with having no viable alternative political strategy that perplexed us.....

Thankfully, now there is and even though other Republican groups - don't agree - they still can't argue in favour of a return to an Armed Campaign..
The alternative political strategy that the provos have adopted has always been there, all they had to do was call a ceasefire, make common cause with the SDLP, accept the unionist veto and agree to recognise the state of NI as legitimate while the unionist are in a majority, all this could have been done at any time. Did the provos fight on to get to this stage?
I am quite sure that you are not the only former combatant that posts here and i am sure others would have no problem arguing in favour or a return to an armed campaign except for the fact that MI5 and the free state branch trawl the site. I also imagine that other republican groups could easily argue for a return to armed struggle. PSF have not offered a Viable alternative political strategy, just a strategy.

To voice an opinion that there should be a return to military action should not in itself a crime .However inciting to do so would . Not only should there be but it should never have stopped,adapted maybe and an awful lot more effort to stop innocent death. Fight government and army only.Collins idea of making it ungovernable is more suitable ..The idiots in media have turned the IRA into a hated group .the Garda mi5 and ruc/psni have managed to find guns bombs . fuel and cigarrettes Where are the drugs .

And where is the £26m?
In fairness there's probably a few threads covering this subject on this forum. Other than that there are newspapers who have covered it and a few television programmes. Asking a random bloke on the internet is probably not going to yield anything significant.

Bertie Ahern........... Snigger, only joking. Obviously Dustin. Technically a turkey but we won't quibble over minor details. :)
