A tweet from Frank Luntz, a Republican insider and pollster, that compares a broken hotel elevator in Austria to socialism is being widely derided online.

Another American tourist who hasn't a clue about the country he happens to be in. Far as I am aware Austria has only experimented with one form of socialism- national socialism.

But then they don't teach 'em much that side of the Potomac. It only confuses 'em.

The American-owned Marriott chain which runs the Hotel Imperial,is home to the offending elevator.
Maybe Luntz’s real gripe was with the lack of capitalist customer service and not socialism :sneaky:

People in the US should be demanding more for their tax dollars than paying for war mongering in foreign lands. They seem to view any form of social agenda to be Socialism. I guess expensive educations don't guarantee smart graduates.

Luntz spent some time here in 2007 working for RTE. Maybe thats where he learned all he knows about socialism. :)

He doesn't know that Austria is run by a coalition conservatives and far right populists......I hope he doesn't find out,as his heart wont take the shock, especially when he is climbing up and down those privately owned stairs.

Tis quite a funny image to think of a US Repugnant lying there in the gloom of a Vienna hotel room just waiting for the door to bust open and some nightmarish group of commies to rush in the moment his defences waver.

Pshaw! By the standards of Trump's republican Party even European conservatives are as near to commies as makes no difference (maybe Boris will be the exception when he gets going). If you don't believe in trashing the environment, privatising everything from prisons to schools and throwing the undeserving sick out of the A&E to die in the alley you're a first cousin to Karl Marx himself.

This guy, is by any standard a Class A idiot. For the fun of it I had a look at the hotel online. It's a 5* costing around €300 a night (for the cheapest rooms) at the minute. It is bound to have several lifts, based upon size alone.
It is also quite opulent by the looks of it.
If this is Austrian socialism can I have a wee bit too?:)

The European-style socialism of a Dubai owned Marriott hotel...whose headquarters are in the U.S.
Frank Lunzt also done some work for Boris Johnson in the past...did he blame the zip line failure on socialism?

Must be a terrible thing to go through life looking over your shoulder for the dread Daemon Socialism to creep up on you, or emerge from a shadow behind a doorway.

Boris denies he asked Frank Luntz will he blame socialism for the domestic incident.
