The merits of a new "like" system

I have a number of message boards that I visit. I mostly read on here. Something I like on other boards are that rather than the option just to "like" a post , there can be other smileys/emoticons you can click. One particular board I frequent has the following options

Like (the common like button)
Sad :-(
Confused :?
Ha ha:D
Thanks (represented by a trophy)

Would people welcome the option to do that here? I think the nuance is good, rather than just being able to "like" a post. Also, what types of reactions do you think would fit in well here?

What we really need is a 'rate that mod' function.

Likes etc were invented to give dopamine shots to users of social media, so they would return frequently for their fix.
