The 'Myth' Of The Unhappy Hooker?

Ex "working Girl", Rachel Moran has just written a book called "Paid For - My Journey In Prostitution" about her terrible time working as a prostitute in Ireland both on the streets and in brothels.

The myth of the happy hooker - People | Popular Stories, Obituaries & More | The Irish Times - Sat, Apr 13, 2013

She has long since retired and completed a DCU degree in journalism. Apparently she claims she favoured working on the street because it gave her more choice in which client to take on, which seems contrary to the experience of virtually every other woman working in this trade. She also believes all men who were her clients were essentially uncaring individuals, using her body as a sort of masterbatory vessel and they had a propensity in very many cases towards physical violence towards women. This point, though I have absolutely no doubt she would have experienced nutter clients rings hollow when compared to the experience of many other retirees from the oldest profession and most currently in it. After all male clients do have mothers, daughters, sisters, female friends and yes even wives (she reckons around 75% of her Johns were married or in relationships!), so how can the whole lot of them be a psychotic danger to women? It occurs to me that she developed an all men are bashed turds school of motoring view of men and this was coloured by the nutters she encountered and will be grisse to the mill for rad fem man haters when they hear it! Also there is an element of biting the hand that fed you when taking this view of her ex clients and indeed fed her devil's dandruff habit, which she said was developed on the game! She also claims to have seen many underage girls working on the streets and to this day, she believes there is an extraordinary level of this child abuse, Is she not honour bound to report this serious criminality to the police (I would support in this as would any normal man!). By the way there is no possibility of finding an underage girl working in a brothel in Ireland /UK!
She is now advocating the Nordick model of client criminalisation (well it's becoming just Swedish again as Norway are revisiting it due to the damage that has been caused to vulnerable women because of it!).
She hasn't referenced much the issue of trafficking which the Ruhamas and rad fems use as their main introductory plank citing incredible unsubstantiated figures for it!
I have yet to hear this extraordinary beautiful looking and articulate Irish woman counter the surely all persuasive argument that the Swedish model will place the livelihoods and indeed the lives of many of her ex colleagues at serious risk with the business being driven underground and tha given the penalty points debacle it is only working class men who will ever be prosecuted under it!
Rachel is from a deprived working class background originally and in a highly classist society, working class people will be regularly treated like sh1t (so do something about it!), ironically underclass rubbish (which neither she nor I ever were or ever will be!) and upper class rubbish are treated exceptionally well!
I agree with her on the need for an exit strategy for those that won't to leave the business! I am delighted that Rachel found hers and wish her a fantastic life!

I don't think she ever worked as what is commonly accepted as an escort (who tend to have a slightly easier time), whereas her experience as a street worker and in brothels would be substantially more challenging and tougher and dangerous!
And of course The Pretty Woman stereotype is not borne out by the reality of what women and men have to put up with - very few clients have Dicky Gere's money or looks and the money is hard enough earned generally!

From prostitution to journalism. No real change then...

I missed the LLS interview but the article was very illuminating. She's a brave woman coming forward like this and revealing her identity. Her book is a major blow against prostitution worldwide.

That joke did occur to me also!
As Albert Reynolds rather famously said the longer I spend in the world's second oldest profession (politics) the more I find it resembles the first!

If a man is too socially inept, too ignorant of romance, too ugly, smelly and unattractive or an unemployed loser who has no money or a wealthy businessman trapped in a loveless marriage etc and he cannot get sex unless he pays for it, he is not entitled to have it.

Moran spoke of the LLS about the sense of entitlement that men feel toward sex.

You are not entitled to sex.

If you want to have regular sex you have to groom yourself, dress well, work out, eat the right food and drink, work on how to have interesting and delightful conversations with women, have a romantic sensibility and read the Kama Sutra.

You should not be allowed to cheat by paying desperate women - only a desperate woman would become a hooker - to service you.

If you can't get sex for free you don't deserve to have sex.

Why should men be named and shamed?

It is perfectly legitimate for two consenting adults to freely contract to have intimate physical contact.

The criminality that surrounds prostitution is because it is kept under wraps. There needs to be a properly legislated licensed regime which would allow people provide and avail of sexual services and this would help reduce the involvment of criminals.

As for entrapment by female Gardai of guys who just want to have sex, it is a ridiculous waste of public resources. And as for these feminazis and Ruhama lot with their skewed figures trying to ban sex for money they are just another form of backward totalitarian types with limited viewpoints, imho.

It is the abuse of women which we need to focus on! I do not accept that all women working in this biz are forced, unwilling, can't see beyond an addiction etc and in fairness most male clients are not psychotics!
I do accept most women working in the biz might prefer to be architects/doctors etc. and that most male clients would like to have a bevvie of beautiful women at their beck and call without having to pay for it!:p
The world does not work like that!

It makes no difference if the "high class" prostitute is taken to service a multi-billionaire in the Ritz or if she is a meth addicted mess who is taken up a garbage strewn alley for sex against a wall.

It still demeaning and soul destroying for these women who are unfortunate to get involved in the business.

Anyway, regardless of whether you me or anyone else agrees or disagrees with prostitution, its none of the states business provided the transaction is between two consenting adults.

Then why do they become involved in prostitution? that attention seeking parasite, Miss Moran should have quit prostitution if she was suffering from so called "trama".

Should ban other so called "demeaning" occupations?

At last an honest remark from an Irish politician, admitting that his profession involves selling favours for money. Reynolds and his like, took the money and then sold the citizen into servetude or exported us abroad.

What consenting adults do is no concern of yours.

Arnold Swtrtznegger and Charlie Sheen and many Premiership footballers have rented it, argument dead! Even Frank Sinatra!
Even if you were hopelessly in love with your partner, if as a man you only made love to one woman (even 10,000 times), you may feel that you lived a largely unfullfilled sex life!
It's also difficult to have it off with women of other races if you are relying on your Neil Strauss "Game" tactics alone!
Indeed Irish women were notoriously tight though thankfully for the younger generation of heterosexual males they seem to have left this fear of the Magdellan laundry behind them!:p

This is hilarious but depressing.

There is no correlation between price and quality.

That attention seeking parasite comment is grossly unfair!
