Stephen Soderbergh's The Good German was produced in black and white (although from colour stock) using 1.66:1 ratio. It was also shot using older lenses and lighting to recreate the style of film noir. It wasn't a great film tbh, the narrative was a bit flat, but it looked very authentic.
Jarmusch's Coffee & Cigarettes is a recent b&w film and is very good. Great scene with Iggy Pop and Tom Waites.
