This is not a unionist viewpoint, but from a member of the workers party.

Some interesting quotes from this article

"The politically bankrupt nature of nationalism"

"No hiding place for the failed and failing politics of nationalism."

"Nationalism is not only a backward political philosophy: it is a toxic one.

It seeks to divide and exploit difference. It blames others and otherness.

It is a political cancer that deliberately subverts progressive politics."

The Workers Party,

Surely as international socialists they are critiquing all philosophies of nationalism, i.e. Ulster Unionism is also a form of nationalism, British nationalism.

From an international socialist perspective they are critiquing everyone who puts nation above class.

Communism is bankrupt too. UK nationalism is in crisis. Scotland, Wales, London, Isle Man, Cornwall and Yorkshire are all looking for greater autonomy. We all know about N.I.

I googled this ms Gemma Weir.
one link commented on her fab hairstyle & suggested that it cost a penny or two.

anyway, despite her fab hairstyle, she finished 12th of 13 candidates in Belfast North with 248 votes.
LOL !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

So forget about her analysis because she has the audacity to get her hair done to look good.

Good looking and smart, she sounds like quite the catch.

The points in question apply to Irish nationalism, English nationalism, British nationalism etc......

It's arguable that the latter two would embrace unionism as core philosophies.

I agree with some of what she says. Nationalism as an ideology can be dangerous. What you're forgetting is that Unionism is a form of Nationalism. It shares many of the same traits.

To be fair, there's little room in NI for anyone outside of the politics of tribalism.

Precisely. I think that the OP was hoping that no-one would click on the link and find that the criticisms are directed as much to British unionist parties as Irish pro-UI parties.
