Tragedy ..... Mitch McConnell's lunch spoiled again .... where is Dame Enda to defend his right to a enjoy a quiet meal .... ?

“This is your fault,” Sen. Ron Johnson (R-Wis.) told Majority Leader Mitch McConnell (R-Ky.) at one point, according to two Republicans who attended the lunch and witnessed the exchange.

“Are you suggesting I’m enjoying this?” McConnell snapped back, according to the people who attended the lunch.

A "mild-mannered" Senator from Colorado tears Ted Cruz a new as*hole.

Gobshytes like Trump and Cruz are not "normal politics". The GOP does not do "normal politics".

Yeah we heard all that. Opinion?
I think Trump needs to tread carefully. Coulter is an example of his hardcore base. He can ill afford to lose them too. He will need them in 2020.

So what should he have done? Not folded, regardless of the consequences on actual (not hypothetical) security at airports and so on? For how long?

Why do you think the wall suddenly became an emergency in Trump's mind now, just when he no longer had the numbers to push it through the House? Why not two years ago? Or last year?

A national emergency declaration is only a 9th Circuit away from being suspended. He could have tried it, but he was warned not to by Senator Roy Blunt and others, who fear the precedent it would set under Democratic presidents.

It's not a national emergency, or rather, the only national emergency is the one he created.

There have to be some limits to what a head of state is allowed to do to please a talk show presenter if the country is still to be considered a democracy with a rule of law.

Setting out to create a national emergency in order to suspend the rule of law because there is a national emergency does seem to be a step or several too far, IMO.

Do you agree?

2020 is the least of his worries. Indictment, Impeachment and Federal prison in that order are keeping him awake at night.

Moderate GOP Senator Susan Collins is coming out against a nominee (Matthew Kacsmaryk) for district judgeship in Texas who called abortion supporters "sexual revolutionaries" and who she said opposes LGBT rights. Kacsmaryk in the past referred to homosexual acts as "intrinsically disordered".

At last, Republicans produce someone worthy of "Profiles in Courage".

He is one of very few historians will be able to find in the Trump Era. Who else? Kasich? McCain? Damn few.

I think when the Impeachment Enquiry starts getting the hard evidence - the WH cannot hide every piece of it - more Republicans will grow a spin, or a conscience perhaps, and speak out against Trump and his minions. Abraham Lincoln's truth about not fooling everybody all the time will impact the situation eventually.
