No different to Mick O'Leary buying a taxi plate for his car just so as he could zip along our bus lanes I suppose.

not to be pedantic about this but surely the OP should read "some rich people.........

I am sure that there are a lot of rich people who disapprove of this just as much as the rest of us

The super rich are probably hiring disabled tour guides that have twins in a double wide stroller.

Disney has a fastpass system in place that, if planned correctly, means you never need to see a queue at all, certainly that was the case when I went around 12 years ago, I don't see why this would be needed at all.

Simple solution. Any wealthy person caught doing this should be immediately taken to the nearest hospital and conferred with the relevant handicap.

Everyone is happy. They get to skip the queue in future and the queue is happy to let them in. I would extend this. If Sean Quinn says he only has three shilling and sixpence in his pocket I would have a team of accountants make sure that that is all he is ever able to access again in his life.

Sorted.

One wonders if the rule existed around the declared wealth of wealthy people that anything found above the declared income would be forfeit would we suddenly see a rash of newer, more honest accounts being published.

There is precedent for this. The laws against 'luxury' which was a crime at one time in Ancient Rome.

If I was rich I would do the same thing myself. It is like that scene from Larry David about the guy who pretends to be mentally handicapped to jump the queue to the cinema.

Seems to me everyones a winner in this story.

Handicapped person gets a free day out, makes new friends and is paid well for their trouble.

We spend long enough complaining about employment opportunities for the handicapped and then shoot a great idea like this down in flames.

The 'wealthy' hardly thought this up by themselves and handicapped escorts don't exactly grow on trees - clearly some journalist in an attempt to 'right the wrongs of the world' is going to put some clever handicapped people out of business.

The IRS are probably setting up sting-operations right now to punish those mentally handicapped tax evaders.

They'll be 'terrorism-related' before they know it.

The co-modification of disabled access doesn't bother you at all? Should we just sell handicapped parking passes to the rich while we are at it?

Eh. So the wealthy have used their money to arrange matters for their greater convenience, then? Nothing new there. Isn't this also the case when first/business class passengers are given boarding preference on airlines? Or is it the deception everyone is excited about?

Personally, I'd rather these muck-raking journalists looked into Disney World's safety record (which isn't great), or highlighted the fact that they are not under the jurisdiction of the Orlando Police Department (they have their own Mickey Mouse cops, apparently), and have been known to cover up cases of child molestation, rather than take any bad publicity. Then there are the environmental issues, which Florida author Carl Hiassen (better known for his mysteries) explores in his delightful little screed about Disney's effect on his home state, "Team Rodent."

My eldest sister lived in Florida for many years, and I recall going down to visit her one Christmas, during my college years, only to discover that she had procured some free tickets to Disney World for us. I felt like a bit of a Grinch telling her I wouldn't be setting foot in the place, as she'd meant it so kindly, but what can you do? I'm inundated with Disney culture 24/7, whether I like it or no (their name is even appearing now on non-Disney books, since they bought Hyperion), so I see no need to subject myself to more of the same, voluntarily.

Are you one of the above mentioned who takes offense on behalf of others?
