Lots of cuckoos in remote West Cork. I hear them nearly every year - and boy do they make a racket.

Lovely though.

There are plenty of cuckoos calling around Kildare St in Dublin city centre. These cuckoos make a racket but they cost a packet!

First Swallow of the season that I've seen on 30th of March in Cork. Other reports they've been seen since 24th of March on the N8 south of Fermoy around Castlelyons direction.

The earliest I've ever noticed.

Saw my first one yesterday. It was then chased away by a blue tit. (comin' over here takin' our grubs etc...)
One swallow. Has it been said?
Anyway, the weather has been weirding a lot.

Also, people, leave the dandelions in your garden alone. Food for the bees.

But my favourite birdsong of all, and for me (Leinster boy) the soundtrack of summer meadows and summer itself is the skylark.

The swallows are facing a bit of a homelessness crisis. :(

Modern farm buildings have caused a lack of sheltered barns and old-fashioned eaves for nesting..
