This text is nonsensical. We need more houses. What's your alternative? More tents?
How are you so sure we need more houses?
[We have one of the lowest amount of people per house in the world right now and we have lots of empty houses.
In Cork there are 269 people living in emergency accommodation, while there are 21,287 vacant housing units. In Dublin, there are 3,247 people in emergency accommodation and 35,293 empty units.
At the moment Dublin City Council owns a thousand 3 and 4 bed houses with only a single occupant but the officials are too cowardly to move these people around and reallocate those resources.
And that is just one local authority.
A big majority of 'homeless' people are actually single and they're all demanding their very own house.
Very few people who pay for their own house live one person per house and their 17 year old daughters don't go out and have a baby and then demand free house but the 'homeless' and the old people in council houses are looking for that privilege.
If people were willing to better utilise resources there wouldn't be an issue but no politician would dare to suggest that.
The point I am making is that from the Green perspective we should be building less stuff and making do with what we have instead of always expanding our footprint on the planet and not everyone trying to grab whatever they can get.
Have they forgotten what they're supposed to stand for?

You have great points. Enlightening even. As to single people demanding a house - depends on their age. Whether they have children or not etc

The ex SF leader Adams was in charge for nearly 35 years.
He never went into talks regarding forming a government in the 26!
Some legacy.
To be fair SF had no real electable presence until after the good Friday agreement. In the south. Perhaps an odd TD. But nothing they could enter talks with.
Gerry did the right thing in the end - embracing democracy just a shame it took him so long ?

more Halting sites, Shanty Towns, Favellas, Cheap High rise apartments publicly owned and rented by the council at below market price.Ballymunesque developments for migrants in low-wages sectors to serve the private sectors of Tourism, catering, healthcare in Hospitals and Care homes, Home Helps, SNA for the Education, Hairdressing, Office cleaners etc.Our economy just cannot survive without these workers and zooming does not make the bed or cut and wash your hair.

Excellent ideas if we could create just one big shantytown area and block it off so that nobody could smell it👍
Sort of like the Gaza strip or something.
We could put Michael d Higgins and Fintan O'Toole in charge of it.

Ah, I see that you are arguing for a society with even greater inequality than we have at present.
Are you planning to be our Trump, organising torch-lit processions and looking for people with a visible difference to attack?

anything is better than a tent! Does satire ever cross your mind, the more ridiculous a post is , the better it shows irony, satire, lampoonery to the reader. The bosses and leaders of the tourist trade want cheap labour, maximum profit and that's their bottom line. They don't want their third world migrant labour force taking up accommodation in an exclusive hotel .So they don't care if they live in a Halting site, shanty town, just as long as they do the job at the lowest permissible wages.Something akin to the garment factory workers in Leics churning out cheap clothes for a subcontractor supplying BooHoo.com
