that is the greatest bluff that capitalism has pulled - its not 'part of human nature'
Unfortunately, I also believe it is. Why else are we where we are and why there has been no change for thousands of years. Greed. It's natural. Survival of the Greediest.

Capitalism has existed for 250 years - the key victory for capitalism over feudalism was the French Revolution.

And 'greed' is not natural - survival is natural - and under capitalism 99% of the population are in a day-to-day struggle most not knowing if they can survive next week. What is natural for human beings is help, support and solidarity - a natural trait running right through the history of the human race.

Who is that young man?

If Enda adopts Trumpist immigration policies I will support him remaining as Taoiseach though I doubt it will happen.

I agree with the Commie that "Trump represents the possibility of a conflict in American capital". And a good thing too though I am not a Commie.

The way to MLOD's heart appears to be through Enda's heart, as he seemed somewhat charmed by Trump and she seemed quite impressed.

MLOD hardly getting a word in. VB had to tell the excitable historian to give her a chance. But it turns out she had nothing to say except words.

Can’t say I ever equated feudalism with socialism. Wasn’t it a case of the Lord giveth and the Lord taketh away? I am all for a society where everyone looks after everyone else in an equal manner, not as a superior to an inferior.

Where did I claim that feudalism was equivalent to socialism - I pointed out that capitalism has existed for 250 years.

Who is this Hanley eejit. He is an Historian, yet treats Trump like he can predict the future.

His Politics are getting in the way of his Academia and he is attempting to blame Trump for things he has yet to do.

Not a very bright Historian, when you confuse Hitler with Trump and US Repuclicanism with Nazism.

Roosevelt was a Democrat. He was the last President to set up Concentration camps on American soil and detain American citizens of Japanese descent,

He had the broad support of the majority of Americans. Republican and Democrat. America has always been the most racist country in the World. Fact.

Trump is no more racist than your average American.

The only difference now is that they are racist towards Muslims rather than what they used to call Negroes.

Academic institutions are increasingly dependent on non-EEA students and therefore dont appreciate discussion on immigration control. There is an increasing tendency to employ Globalist Liberals as tutors. In the US it has reached an extreme though, including hired thugs eg in Berkeley UC, shutting down conservative speakers such as Charles Murray a few weeks ago. Despite being married to an Asian, a lie was spread that he was a White supremacist.

The solution is to allow universities more access to private capital instead of relying on non-EEA tuition fees.

Thinking he's the eejit suggests that you are actually the eejit.
Don't be so juvenile.

Hanley declared Trump a terrible President before his Presidency has begun, never mind finished.

Hardly the declaration of someone who even understands history.

He came across as an eejit, who was trying to predict history, rather than explain it.

I thought Enda handled the whole Trump thing with grace and tact something our leftie friends could learn.

He mentioned the millions of illegal immigrants wanting to make America Great again while also acknowledging open borders are a thing of the past.

Where as these muppets would either be outside protesting or throwing insults at Trumps face.

Yet again the Irish left disqualify themselves as too irresponsible and childish for power.

Actually he started fawning about all the Irish who had been killed serving in the US army - fighting for US control of oil fields and lining the pockets of Halliburton

The purpose of history is to understand why things happened and understand that history repeats itself.

Trump's presidency is a presidency for the super-rich and it will be an utter disaster for the working class in the US, for women, for minorities, for immigrants, for LGBT, for the environment etc.

You actually don't have to be a genius to be able to predict all of these things.

You are not the brightest, are you?

Halliburton came after WW2.

So what if it is. Nothing to do with us. That could describe most Irish governments. Still America remained our friends.
