A ding-dong between Dick Roche and Joan Burton. Roche has just said that intensive pressure has increased because of briefings given to BBC and Reuters.

Anyone else watching?

ECB won't do the job of a Central Bank in this crisis - which is to start printing money. The crisis won't end until the ECB begins to act like a central bank.

Fianna Fáil are looking like this guy:

Joan says there is great anger in Europe about our bank guarantee - the analogy of a sinking ship where the captain has decided to tie himself and his crew to the mast sticks in my mind.

They only want the good parts of that job; heavy lifting is not in their remit, so they believe.

Roche is a slimeball, the man who ridiculed people, when they said we would be overwhelmed by eastern european immigration, how many extra billions are we in debt from the last 18months of the "boom" which was effectively bringing in eastern europeans to build houses for more eastern europeans.

The failure of the ECB in this is absolutely crucial. From a macro level. Obviously from a national point of view the failure of Fianna Fáil is hugely significant. However, the crisis won't be got through until the ECB takes up the role of every other central bank in the world. They have got to fire up the printing press, or the €uro is toast - not this year, but in the medium term.

Roche, I wouldn't trust that man, they have been talking to the IMF all weekend and Dermot tells us it was fiction on sunday.
Can't trust FF.

So the govt says they will guarantee the banks - the ECB is the one actually doing it and they don't want to continue

How could we be in a worse position if we had let the banks fail in 08.
