This morning's Fleet Street headlines provided a depressingly-familiar example of the extraordinary degree to which the Tory press is obsessed with with blind racist hatred.

A sample of what the Mail had to say:
BBC accused of 'fawning' coverage of McGuiness's death  | Daily Mail Online
Corbyn pays warm tribute to IRA killer Martin McGuinness | Daily Mail Online
News - Latest Headlines, Photos and Videos | Daily Mail Online
'The world is a sweeter place today': Norman Tebbit, whose wife was paralysed by an IRA bomb, brands Martin McGuinness 'a coward who never atoned for his crimes' as he dies aged 66
And from the Telegraph:
Martin McGuinness was a 'coward who never atoned for his crimes', says Lord Tebbit

Meanwhile, the Express didn't rate Martin McGuinness a comment. Instead, they turned their poison on Nicola Sturgeon:
Missing Nicola Sturgeon poster - Govanhill call for First Minister to return to day job | Politics | News | Express.co.uk

Not to be outdone, the Telegraph rants on about despicable foreigners making nasty fun of Britain:
EU officials mock Britain with anti-Brexit Tintin poster on wall of Brussels war room

And this is the press of a country that constantly lectures the rest of the world on its inability to keep up with Britain's standards of civilisation.

You really need to read more history, today's press is mild compared to what was written years ago.

Long before we had snowflakes we had Sinn Fein. Taking criticism really isn't their strong point. Even when it's a complement with a small 'but' attached.

what do you expect from any newspaper that has Katie Hopkins as a columnist!

I think most people have a good handle on where the British press stands in terms of credibility and for the tabloids that's somewhere between 0% and a minus figure of your choice. The red tops in particular are aimed at a market for whom thinking is a vigorous exercise and thinking laterally is an impossibility. These papers tend to print what they think conforms to their readers' prejudices rather than encourage them to explore different possibilities.

While I can perfectly understand Norman Tebbitt's bitterness he and his wife are still just a statistic in Northern Ireland's miserable history. There are tens of thousands of others, including victims of his army's behaviour and of the indifference of successive London governments to how their sectarian province was being run.

The childish jingoism of the anti-European British press is as immature as it is tedious and will probably get worse as the Brexit talks develop.

Personally I think they're best ignored and filed away under 'not relevant'.

You'd have to give Tebbit a pass there. It's not an abstract political matter for him.

The Daily Mail is not just nasty to the numerous people, political ideologies and nations it loathes with a vengeance, apparently. In the Books section of the Sunday Times (12th March) there is a review of a new work entitled Mail Men, an account of the paper's history since its foundation in 1896.
The reviewer agrees with the author's assessment of the paper as being "a tough, brutal place to work" & continues "The book tells of journalists being 'showered with expletives' and being told by one editor " you are all f****** cretins and this is crap".
Delightful stuff................... and so ironic that a newspaper so notably prudish that it always censors expletives in its printed product should employ senior management who thrive on abusing the minions with such language.

Is it any wonder that it caters for the very worst prejudices of the most bigoted, far-right neanderthal cretins in middle England? Such people deserve each other.
:p

What a wheeze.
You can't criticize EU officials because they are foreigners, and if you do so, then you are racist.

The most hate-filled rag in the history of mankind
Really? More hate-filled than Der Sturmer or Dabiq to name only two?

Anyway since Tebbit was mentioned it reminds me of the one after the Brighton bombing when Tebbit bounced down a few floors when the floor collapsed. Who's the fastest story teller in the world ? Norman Tebbit as he can go through a few stories in just 2 seconds !!!
That little "joke" shows you up as being no better, or worse then the most hateful of the red-top rags. A real piece of low-life trash.

That old saying "whats good for the Goose is good for the gander" comes to mind. Margereth Thatcher was not spared by An Phoblacht. Stop been so sensitive and take it on the chin old boy :)

Telegraph coverage of Marty's death was reasonably lacking in spittle and keyboard hammering.

Daily Mail and it's lunatic commenters bizarrely used his death as an excuse to have a go at the BBC even more than him. For many they wouldn't really know who he was, I guess.

There was even a sort of a craven jingoistic respect in the DM's headline that referred to Marty as a 'Commander', as though he had almost reached the level of 'worthy enemy', and no use of the word terrorist to the dismay of the window lickers.
