Family guilty of forced labour - The Irish Times - Fri, Dec 14, 2012

the Irish Times said:
The defendants benefited financially and we say handsomely in their legal exploits and enterprise Mr Quinlan told the jury during the trial.
The men were forced to work and exploited for financial gain and the defendants had a very cheap labour workforce for their businesses.
Throughout the Connors family are described as 'Irish Travellers' despite the fact that they are all English.

If in fact any of them are Irish born we can only assume that this disgraceful behaviour is caused by too much contact with English people. After all the above sounds like the British Empire on trial.

So on the one hand you state with certainty than none of them are Irish, and then in the next sentence leave open the possibility that they might be Irish.

So you've started a thread without knowing if its premise is correct or not?

Not to mention the irony of a thread decrying anti-racism ending with a rounding anti-Englishness.

They are Irish travellers, which governs how many of them operate, but then you are sort of satirising an open borders leftwinger.

Wherever they were born their ethnic identity is Irish Traveller. They claimed that in their defence, and it is accepted by the "Irish Traveller Movement in Britain" - Travellers reeling as convictions on four members reverberate through community - The Irish Times - Sat, Jul 14, 2012

The scariest bit is that report is here - "Even the Irish Traveller Movement in Britain, which condemned the treatment of the victims, continues to insist that the presentation of the relationship between Travellers and the outsiders who work with them has been simplistic.

“We really need to look closer at the nature of these relationships. This is not a cut-and-dried issue and really needs research. Workmen have always been part of the Traveller economy. In our experience this is a mutual agreement,” said the Traveller movement’s Yvonne McNamara."

Yeah, it confers ethnic minority status on them which can be useful. Scumbags. One thing i did notice in the UK is that some brits can't tell the difference between a normal irish accent & a tinker one.

It happened to my missus a few years ago. Our area was swamped for a few months with travellers who were not endearing themselves to the local populous with their criminality. My missus has a delightful brogue yet was mistaken for a skanging traveller by a shop owner. I soon put her right but the behaviour of these Irish criminals was giving a bad rep to all the decent Irish who live in our area.

Not right, I agree. But they are still Irish and they get decent folk a bad name.

Happened to me too, was staying in a midlands town for a few months, was wondering why the locals seemed terrified of me, turned out a bunch of tinkers had run amok a short time before & all irish were tarred with the same brush.

Thats' nothing, have a look at these two gems from the same poster earlier today;
Multiculturalism in England presupposes that there was a culture there to begin with.
And when another poster pointed out just some of the cultural contributions the english have made to the world we got in reply:
They are scum and should be ALMOST exterminated.
Offensive much?

In Southern Sweden about two years ago a bunch of travellors wrecked rampage from Skåne to Linköpning. They broke in everywhere, stole railway power cables, stole railway track and created general mayhem as well as being involved in human trafficking. That badly affected the reputation of Irish in Sweden.

Everywhere they go they create mayhem and they make a point of stating they are Irish.

They're not English, they're not Irish; they're just.... well, Pikey!

The Conners slipped up because they failed to register Connors Incorporated on the Shanghai Stock Exchange; they could then be regarded as the mirror image of what is happening in China.

Would the Western Authorities ever dare then to indict them?

Know how the jarveys etc have to add nappies to ther horse drawn rigs?

How then is it ok to have these sulkies trotting around our main roads, town and villages with no nappies?

Maybe we should begin to enforce our own laws.

That would require a direct link to the OP's tiny, narrow, warped mind I'm afraid.
