Trump is trying to foist an especially foetid Act on Congress

https://www.axios.com/trump-trade-war-leaked-bill-world-trade-organization-united-states-d51278d2-0516-4def-a4d3-ed676f4e0f83.html
Exclusive: A leaked Trump bill to blow up the WTO
The draft legislation is stunning. The bill essentially provides Trump a license to raise U.S. tariffs at will, without congressional consent and international rules be damned.

The details: The bill, titled the "United States Fair and Reciprocal Tariff Act," would give Trump unilateral power to ignore the two most basic principles of the WTO and negotiate one-on-one with any country:
The intent was of course to break up the New World Order & give Barron Trump free hand to negotiate some deals...butt...

What a puerile video. I could never trust anyone who found that comedy flatline even mildly amusing. Trump is right to attempt to halt Globalism. Globalism= Psycho's Charter. One only need look at the degenerates that support it. Juncker, Merkel, Macron, Bono, Mary Robinson etc.

God, it is so sad that contributors on P.ie do not understand a nation of laws.

You don't want to return to live cattle exports to Britain as the main economic driver and emigration so high the country was going to depopulate eventually?

I long for the day not so long ago of the 80s and earlier where:
*no motorways and little to no dual carriageway or 2+1 roads existed in favour of old boreens from the old British work programmes for the poor and cattle paths
* the delight of having just RTE1 and RTE2 for a few hours with British and US shows
* a solid theocracy where clergy lord over the public
* rudimentary education
* peering windows small town nonsense from a small minded colloquialism
* filling my family room mantles with pictures of departed relatives in the far corners of the Earth
* choosing either dole or departure
* hoping relatives send or bring back something decent from abroad
* a dating scene so homogenous and local that you might be distantly related according to granny
* limited cuisine to plain Irish fare (full fry and sausage rolls excepted of course ;))
etc...

I mean, who the F needs any of these Asian smartphones, Apple, and whatnot for which our lads work together on tech and so forth and all these fancy clothes, cars, petrol, cinema, food and beverage variety, road funding, etc.

I think it's also brliliant if we go back to having a sh!tload of visa problems getting anywhere outside Ireland and Britain rather than EU freedom of movement and work and visa waiver programmes in the First World and elsewhere, etc.

FFS, hell, maybe the Famine wasn't so bad after all....

Does anyone ever get the feeling that every stability we once knew in our political anorak lives, is suddenly no longer stable and that the world is heading for a serious power shift?

Change brings reactions, some good and some bad depending on the issues and who is involved in them. IMO, people have to evolve with what's good about it. It brings challenges, but not as many as those that people that fear change (often quite hypocritically) blow out of proportion.

We've as much to lose by overreacting to positive changes as we do from genuine concerns regarding it. Same for failing to note that problem sources lie on the inside as well as outside regarding positive and negative changes.

"The American people have no interest in an American financial group or an American shipyard establishing a so-called subsidiary shipyard in Shanghai to build ships for China with Chinese workers and foreign steel." - Donald J. Trump.

What do you actually know about the WTO, the economics of trade and the extent and nature of trade protectionism around the world. In particular which countries or trade blocks are the most anti trade?

A few years ago the Eurozone / nEU empire had a proposal :

the
Fiscal
Union
Compact
Treaty.

The word union was removed as it would require a referendum in Ireland.

American corporations, (& therefore the American economy), have always been the biggest financial benefactors of globalisation - utterly cretinous post that sums up the self harming stupidity of the average Trump supporter.

You could replace "Trump" with "European Union" and "American" with "European" and not only would it still make sense, it would probably be even more consistent with known facts.

You could if you were a fool.
