Can anyone decipher the latest fiasco?

Trump says: 'Let it be an arms race. We will outmatch them at every pass and outlast them all'

His Staff says: "President-elect Trump was referring to the threat of nuclear proliferation and the critical need to prevent it---particularly to and among terrorist organizations and unstable and rogue regimes. He has also emphasized the need to improve and modernize our deterrent capability as a vital way to pursue peace through strength."

WTF? Is that what it means?

Trump threatens to upend U.S. nuclear weapons policy - POLITICO

A tense new battle over nuclear arms erupts between Donald Trump and his staff

A new arms race, by the way, would be punishingly expensive for both the USA and any other country.

He also said that he was increasing the US nuclear arsenal because there are too many nukes out there. That makes great sense. I wonder when the Americans are going to wake up and realise that they elected an idiot to be their president?

The US has enough nukes to vapourise every major city on earth. Adding more doesn't actually increase the danger, just the cost. Who profits? And does Trump own stock?

Its well known that Trump tends to parrot
whoever spoke to him most recently. Then having the attention span of a gnat, he moves on.

He met executives from Boeing and Lockheed Martin on Wednesday, who are bidding on the contract to replace the Minuteman nuclear arsenal.

Actually, I think they were made the same day.

Anyone else having lingering regrets for "warmongering" Hillary?

After all, Trump also caused China to send two bombers capable of carrying nuclear weapons into the South China Sea. The message to Vietnam, the Philippines, Japan, Indonesia and Malaysia (all US allies) was "You are in range.".

Maybe some adults can wrestle the fiery boy-toys from the man-baby, and we can all watch like the final scene of War Game.

Now that Trump has appointed an anti-Palestinian bigot as Ambassador to Israel, I think I can revive my Trump is the real War Hawk thread.

Some anti Trump people dont get that nukes since 1945 have been about deterrence and not really intended to be used in combat. The main danger of otherwise is terrorists getting hold of them, such as in the chaos of a revolution or a war, or a 'dirty-bomb' made of stolen nuclear fuel.

Knowing what we know about Trump there is absolutely no danger that any of this was behind his thinking.

No.
the choice was between the war mongering, steadfast supporter of Zionism, Clinton.
& the loose cannon Trump.

bit of a Hobson's Choice, there.

Clinton was the choice of the people of the USA,
& Trump was the choice of the fictional College.

Trump is far more of a Zionist than Clinton. Trump wants to move the US embassy to Jerusalem and scrap the Iran deal.

A 'dirty-bomb' was never a real issue - it was invented for the newspapers. Its a meaningless term - such a thing wouldn't kill anyone that the actual bomb didn't, but would make the bomb harder to transport and easier to detect.

The risk of nukes has been the unintended triggering of nuclear war. Such a war wouldn't kill everyone, but would set back the global economy by 100 years.

An idiot with an untamed mouth or a crook in the pocket of the arms industry, wasn't much of a choice they had in the first place but what we do see here is a damage limitation team forming around him. We'll need to worry when he starts contradicting them as well as himself.

This coming from an A.H who never served a day in his life in active service because he had spurs on his heel...

He is now beginning to remind me of that other lunatic in N.Korea, who thinks playing war games is just that..A game..

Well not immediately anyway, but the world's population would have to put up with a vast increase in background radiation and accelerated death rates amongst the survivors, but who cares, it's the economy that matters eh!
