Obama got a Nobel Peace Prize for selling a lie to the American public, and then proceeded to instigate "regime change" in four sovereign countries. [ And there was no need to meddle in the elections, as it was an outright power grab ].

Three of those countries went into civil war afterwards.

Did anybody in the media ever thought of asking him to hand back the Nobel Peace Prize ?

Apart from John Pilger ?

Pence was only boasting two weeks ago that they wouldn't speak to the Democratic People's Republic of Korea. Now they are salivating at the talks table.
"This is not chess. It is poker"

The Turnips are already proclaiming "victory" before anyone has played a card.

It is good though - at least Trump cannot attack North Korea for a while.

But Kim has seized his chance - a weak American President desperate to show a foreign policy success has been easily lured into direct talks. Jaw-jaw is better that war-war so thus far it is all good.

We know Trump is a crap negotiator and totally untrustworthy. The North Koreans have decided to play the game this way, because they probably believe they can outmanoeuvre him in any deal. Kim has nothing to lose, Trump stands to lose any shred of credibility he has left.

Just to give you an update, the Obama Administration ["the most incompetent administration in US history" ]failed to broker a deal with North Korea.

However, the Obama Administration did broker a deal with the Fascist Theorcracy in Tehran, and gave them money as well. That is the same theocracy whose leader denied the Jewish Holocaust, and who wanted Israel wiped off the map. A regime that puts women in prison for not wearing the hijab. A regime that confiscates satelitte dishes, as they represent a threat. A regime that bans the works of Dawkins, Hitchens, Sam Harris, because these works make it apparent that the regime is based on utter nonsense.
All democrats and humanitarians should want to see Israel wiped off the map.

The entire objective of the US policy has been to make Kim concede and come to the table.

That has happened and you are proclaiming this turn of events a failure? You are suggesting you know more than the South Koreans themselves?

"I explained to President Trump that his leadership and his maximum pressure policy, together with international solidarity, brought us to this juncture. I expressed President Moon Jae-in’s personal gratitude for President Trump’s leadership," he said, referring to South Korea's president.
Expect more "capitulations" by Trump in the future. But only after he gets what he wants and no more (more likely less given his approach to negotiations) than he was willing to give in the first place.

A meeting between the leader of North Korea and a sitting US president has been a top foreign policy goal of the North Koreans for about two decades. A North Korean propaganda film literally ends with an American president visiting Pyongyang, compelled by North Korea's nuclear weapons program and treats Kim as an equal...

Trump just gives it to them like that. Talking to North Korea is good, don't get me wrong, but this is just the United States being played.
It is staggering that the cultists are proclaiming this a major Trump victory
As you correctly point out, North Korea has sought a face to face with a US POTUS for decades
Chump is the first to cave in
The North Koreans will milk this for all it's worth as a major propaganda victory

As for the total kool aid chuggers and their "Trump brings peace and unifies a denuclearised Korea"
lol

Some of the numpty quotes coming now are hilarious.

This is how the South Korea government interpret developments:

"I explained to President Trump that his leadership and his maximum pressure policy, together with international solidarity, brought us to this juncture. I expressed President Moon Jae-in’s personal gratitude for President Trump’s leadership," he said, referring to South Korea's president.
[worth nothing that Trump was also directly responsible for the "international solidarity - meaning the UN Security Council resolution on sanctions and China's genuine participation in prosecuting those sanctions]

But major news organisations can't even bring themselves to publish that quote made at the time of the official announcement. As here:

https://www.nbcnews.com/politics/white-house/south-koreans-deliver-letter-trump-kim-jong-un-n855051

Instead NBC go find some Libtard numpties (Nobel Prize winning numpties of course!!)

The International Campaign to Abolish Nuclear Weapons, which won the Nobel Peace Prize last year, said in a statement after the announcement that it "commends South Korea’s leadership in achieving history dialogue between the U.S. and North Korea, which is the only pathway to nuclear disarmament in the face of fire and fury."

LOLz.

But the "Nobel Prize winning International Campaign to Abolish Nuclear Weapons don't stop there. The encourage Trump to "follow the lead of the South Korea" and to "join the rest of the world in trying to find away to get Kim to get rid of his nukes"

The statement from the group's executive director, Beatrice Fihn, continued, "We urge both North Korea and the United States to join the majority of countries in pursuing permanent denuclearization through The Treaty on the Prohibition of Nuclear Weapons."

Fúking Leftist morons just keep up their fantasy in the face of any developments, or any facts.

It would be hilarious if the most incompetent administration in US history managed to broker a deal with North Korea.

I'll believe it when I see it, though.
Who cares what you believe or not. It rarely makes any sense.

Just about a perfect analogy of the idiocy of the cultists proclaiming victory when all that has happened is Trump has conceded to a meeting, nothing more

The North Koreans have seen Trump's hopeless weakness for authoritarian strong men and his appalling negotiating skills

It is entirely possible Kim will woo him with talk of "you should rule like this, like an emperor", knowing Trump hates the checks and balances, the media criticism, the mocking and laughing at him.
And we will have the spectacle (just as with Putin and Duerte and others) of Trump doing a 180 and saying "Kim and I had a great meeting, I think he has been badly portrayed, he is loved by his people, and does many many great things for his country which, like me, I believe we can do great things together"

If anyone deserves the credit - it is the South Korean President and government whom I suspect have engineered this.

And that is all he has got so far (at least the agreement for one). And that is all. Look at what he has already conceded without explicit any demands whatsoever.

OMFG - Kim got everything he wanted! Trump taken for a ride!

https://www.usatoday.com/story/news/world/2017/08/11/kim-jong-un-north-korea-leader/559043001/

If there are ever any talks with the Trump administration to defuse an increasingly dangerous crisis, here are five of North Korean leader Kim Jong Un's demands

  1. Guarantees of no overthrow by U.S.
  2. Keep nuclear weapons
  3. Lift sanctions
  4. Remove U.S. troops from South Korea
  5. Negotiate formal end to Korean War
Let's tally the scores, George:

1. Nope
2. Hell nope
3. Yeaa..... ah, nope.
4. Nope with bells on (actual military manoeuvres to continue)
5. Ahh, not yet sunshine.

Like I said. You are just another blowhard know-nothing, chancing Leftist numpty.

Yeah, Kim is playing a blinder...

Everything is going exactly as he planned...

You know, I could generate a modicum of respect for one or any of you Leftist numpties, if you could bring yourself to reflect and admit that you were wrong. Not on everything, just something. Maybe something you were blatantly wrong about, like Trumps foreign policy approach to North Korea.
I don't care for your respect.

You're reduced to spinning Trump talking to Korea as some sort of massive tactical victory for Trump. It's beyond laughable

The South Koreans deserve credit. But, they have been trying to get the Kim dynasty of socialist dictators to take them seriously for decades.

The puzzling part is that the South Koreans are taking a leading role.

As the BBC pointed out, the optics are peculiar. The talks were announced outside the White House by three South Korean officials, without anyone from the State Department or Trump's National Security staff present.

It all points to some disarray on the US side, which does not bode well.
