Erdogan is now Turkey's Führer, having broken down civil society, smashed independent judiciary - and now has absolute power

He is a vain, insecure man, with a monstrous ego - and ends up in continual low grade paranoia about people who might oppose him

Turkey is still a Nato country, and the Kurds in Syria are a pressing concern of Erdogans

He has also being trying outreach to the Palestinians of late

What next ?

Well, he had a fake coup and then an enabling act.

Should be interesting to see what he does to the Kurds after this election. I have a bad feeling that we have not seen anything yet.

Unlike Germany in 1930, Turkey doesnt matter. Erdogan is 64. This will solve itself.

He's evil, though lacks the charisma of Hitler

He has made Fethullah Gülen et al the bogeymen, though this can only last so long

He also has massively degraded the police and military in his paranoid purges

Will be interesting to see which countries wish to deal with him

He will live for another twenty years as prez. Rake in the money, build new airports and a canal through the Bosphorus and whatever other megolomaniac projects he decides that others will pay for, because he can.

Anyway, I cannot understand his popularity. Well it is manufactured for sure with a humungous load of bribes to the rural folk in the East of the country. Well that is what I think.

The Western part of Turkey is secular, business orientated and educated. But maybe they don't have the numbers to boot him out. Or maybe he is just a fkn dictator having sacked or jailed anyone who speaks out against him, or those he FEELS have done this.

Brotherly countries, he has already said that on his balcony speech.

Onions and potatoes still almost beyond the reach of the average Turks purchasing power, thanks to mega-inflation, maybe Ireland can step in to remedy the situation?

Turkey is one of the most geopolitically important countries in the world.
I dont think the issue is whether Turkey becomes a new dominant military power like cyp thinks, but whether it collapses into a f&ucking mess.
