Folks the campaign of vilification against anyone in Public Life who dares oppose the Abortion Agenda continues apace

Second petition to impeach pro-life UCD Student President Katie Ascough accepted

A second petition to impeach UCD Students' Union President Katie Ascough has been accepted.
The petition calling for her impeachment was handed in on Monday evening after collecting 1200 signatures.
UCD Returning Officer Stephen Devine accepted the petition and an impeachment referendum will now take place on October 25 and October 26.
Ms Ascough announced last night that she will take annual leave until the referendum has been called.

What's with the Anti Life people that they hate to be challenged so much?

We saw some real nasty attacks during the Gay Marriage Thing and more recently with death threats issued against a Hotel who were due to host a conference by Rape Victims

No condemnation by any group, Party or Politician either

The latest now is to undermine some one - the brave UCD Student President Katie Ascough

- for holding true to her principles....

- in advocating the protection of the Unborn

Is Democracy Dead in this State?

Because allowing the open intimidation and hounding from Office of those who who speak out against the Ultra Liberal Agenda

- will surely Kill it....:?

Missed out this bit:

Just weeks into her presidential term Ms Ascough was criticised after she withdrew information over access to abortion services in a magazine circulated to new students.

Ms Ascough said she took an “executive decision” to redact the information after receiving legal advice that the abortion information was illegal in Ireland, despite the fact the information was previously available in UCD.

...

Ms Ascough's decision was widely criticised by the student body as the decision to remove the page, which required reprinting the annual guide, is estimated to have cost the union about €8,000.
So, her principles cost the members 8000 quid. And they're not happy.

"D'oh, but we have broken the law before.. d'oh"....

UCD President takes "executive decision" to cull advertisement for guns from magazine after receiving legal advice that such an advertisement is currently illegal.

FFS you Libtards. Why is it ALWAYS, side over principle?

She didn't pull a debate, or even an ad for a debate, but an ILLEGAL ad. for illegal services Jesus. You may not agree with it being illegal, but it is.

And could have cost them a lot more if she hadn't !:|
Do you consider voting on her behaviour to be undemocratic, if that's what the membership want?

We have no idea if it's illegal or not. It was in the student handbook for 20 years and nobody ever got prosecuted. So let's just get our facts straight shall we.

In addition, on this topic in particular Katie Iona Ascough lied to the students because she told them during the election campaign that she would be neutral on abortion. She then ignorned that and went behind their backs and smart ass that she was she got the pages on abortion removed. She's not an honest person. The students don't like that and that's why so many of them were so quick to sign the first petition - more than the number of people who voted her in in the first place.

Not true. The maximum fine is 4,000. But truth and you on this story is clearly not going to work. Lying for Jesus are we.

This isnt right whatever your views on abortion is everyone should still be entitled to their own opinion, free speech for only those you agree with isnt free speech at all.

I don't believe it's the money that has the students unhappy. It's her actions and the way she did it. What's laughable is it's entirely predictable there would be repercussions. Students don't like being dissed.

We have a report stating the reason the decision was taken. I refuse to comply with your debating fallacy tactics "but what if..."

If It was reported she had pulled an ad. for a group campaigning on the Article 8, I would agree the protest and calls to impeach had some justification.

But this isn't the case, and by your obfuscation, you effectively admit the same. You can address the salient point "is impeachment action warranted for an official pulling something they have been advised is illegal"? Or you can keep schtum.

Removing an ad you disagree with is not exercising freedom of speech, it's denying it.

Lying to the membership of a union in order to get elected is not exercising free speech, it's lying.

Openly calling for the removal of a liar from office is, on the other hand, exercising freedom of speech.

Its her Pro Life stance is why this is going on

- it would be disingenuous for anyone to suggest otherwise ...
Yes, because it stands in direct contradiction of her declared election platform, she lied, she got caught.
