Leaves Labour as the only party to not have a female leader funny that. Have UKIP peaked? will they just stay a small protest party?

Ukip elects MEP Diane James as new leader

Ukip deputy chairman Diane James has won the contest to replace Nigel Farage as the party’s leader.

Ms James, currently a member of the European parliament (MEP), was announced as the party’s new head at its annual conference in the southern English coastal town of Bournemouth after a ballot of UKIP’s 40,000 members.

The MEP, who was the frontrunner in the contest, took the top job with 8,451 votes.

“We are the political change movement of the United Kingdom,” Ms James said, pledging to make sure that Britain acted on the Brexit referendum result and left the EU.

Keeping with the trend of female political leaders in the UK.

But she takes over a very divided party and her main job at first will be to keep it afloat.

now watch all the SocLib darlings lining up to demonise her, to demoralise her, to discredit her.......and meanwhile the plebs will keep supporting her because she is the only leader they now have any confidence in.

But she has a huge issue in that most of the members wanted Woolfe , he was the clear favourite before their executive council ruled him ineligible due to his application been in an hour late. A lot have resigned over it.

She really needs him on side or she is doomed from the start.

She was the best choice available.
Woolfe is much more capable and should have been allowed to stand but that boat has sailed.
I think post Brexit, UKIP will lose a lot to Conservative. Cant see many ex Labour voters returning to Labour given Labours total detachment from the working class.
UKIP will grow or fall based on how the disastrous immigration policy is handled.

for clarity then

So "Leaves Labour as the only party to not have a female leader" was mistaken?

Glad we cleared up that the first sentence to your post was wrong.

UKIP... what's the point of them anymore?

Their raison d'etre has happened... no reason for them to continue.

And their logo feckin' sucks... must be a throwback to when they thought Sterling might get sucked into the €uro...

Either that or it's just a moronic pile of crap based on a currency symbol

She is a good choice.

I think UKIP will find it difficult to get more votes in the next election. Having won the glorious brexit vote the only way they can get more support on the EU side of things is through how the negotiations to leave progress and specifically if the Tories backslide on any of their commitments in that department. They'll still retain a lot of votes from their sensible economic and immigration policies though.

I know it's perverse, but part of me wishes it were still Nigel.
He has such weight in satire.
But he'll never go away!

With Scottish and welsh politics getting ever more 'separatist' the Labour Party is probably finished, and the Liberal Party doesn't appeal to the urban working-class.

I can see UKIP becoming the main challenger to the Tories.
