It was always a bit of a botch job the auld Trump banning order... and now the US 'system' seems to have agreed...

The process of getting into America is already very rigorous... particularly for refugees... taking up to 2 years in some cases...

Trump's claim that by giving notice of the ban (and implementing it properly) would have seen masses of bad people flooding into America was always a load of the usual Trump BS...

And so now the ban has been... banned...

US reverses travel ban over court ruling as Trump fumes - BBC News

Can't say I'm surprised...

No doubt they won't take this lying down... but they really need to cop themselves on and do the stuff they're trying to do properly...

"Law and order" types should happy, shouldn't they?

The "law" bit, like.

But "law and order" types generally don't like law, do they?

An ISIS attack by a newly admitted immigrant would be a nightmare now as Trump could say I told you so, and would get widespread support for even stricter measures.
Didn't that already happen yesterday with the Louvre attacker.

That's a worrying point of view which didn't occur to me... but is probably valid...

Given how in awe the base are it wouldn't even have to be a 'legitimate' Daesh attack...

Any attack could be spun in such a way to fulfil a specific purpose...

As the impact of the ruling took hold, President Donald Trump lashed out on Twitter early Saturday morning, referring to U.S. District Judge James Robart as "this so-called judge" and calling his decree "ridiculous."

But isn't this the ideal outcome, from Trump's perspective?

He can claim he kept his promise, but that the liberal elite screwed him over. This allows him to pander to his base without actually having to enforce the ridiculous travel ban.

This is very good news- a judge made a ruling and the White House complied. Time for the hysterical lefties to calm down.

But they bring so much cultural diversity.
The only upside is that at least these people will put the feminists and gay rights trolls in their place. In a way it could be quite amusing, if it were not for the wider social damage.

It's a stay only - the substantive issue has to be decided by the courts. And Trump is appealing the stay.

Dunno about that... it could be viewed by his base as an example of failing miserably to drain the swamp...

Depends what he wants really... if he goes down the route of blaming everyone and everything for failing to comply with his every whim and his base lap it up he could bring America to a very ugly place...

I'm sure much of what he wants to do could be done in ways... but he needs to work within structures that are rightly in place to stop and check the whims of anyone who is POTUS.

He seems to be chancing his arm a lot... and is rightly being stopped where he's crossing lines.

I.E. The system is operating as intended and all the hysterics about the rule of law were misplaced.

But they've already had plenty of such examples, not just of Trump failing to drain the swamp, but of him making it even swampier.

That doesn't seem to have fazed them, so they'll probably find a way to rationalize this too.
