This is the reason car insurance is so high, the biggest cost for insurers is claims.

It's a pity the judge doesn't have to explain where he got the 10k figure from - perhaps it seemed like a nice round number.

Is there anyway we can put an end to this?

References were made to an incident where Mr Lynch swallowed a chicken bone while eating a chicken nugget.

Mr O’Brien put it to him that he had five previous cases relating to injuries suffered to his to shoulder, neck and lower back, and those incidents exacerbated his injuries on each occasion.

In his ruling, Judge O’Donohue said that Mr Lynch was a “very unfortunate, accident-prone individual”.

“He has been well compensated in the past”, Judge O’Donohue added as he awarded Mr Lynch €10,000 and legal costs.

Feck sake. How many more fraudsters like this guy are out there. I would guess loads. What is worse is that justice and legal system allows these kind of people to profit.

As he is in the business of vexatious claims and using it as his income then time for Revenue Commissioners to tax his source of income.

You won't be saying fair play when someone like him slams on the brakes so you hit the rear of their car and bingo whiplash claims all round. Mind that slippy floor too without the warning sign etc. These people need to be stopped by reducing claim jackpots considerably so it is not worth them trying it on.

And people like you need to be stopped driving so close to the car in front. Aggressive Bullying on the road deserves a kick in the pocket and a great big insurance hike. 'Cos your the bol*ox who'll break my neck. AH

You are the insurance companies Dream driver. You are the reason insurance is so high.

And fair play too to his lawyers.

I presume he always uses the same team. The news-report fell down badly by not naming them.

Just the judges using any excuse to keep the money flooding through the law library for their colleagues, with these ridiculous awards

Just another part of the golden circle circus laughably called a republic

What precisely do you mean by that?

Are you saying that the kind of people who come from Limerick shouldn't be profiting from the 'justice and legal system'.

Actually, underneath all the legalese mumbo-jumbo, PI litigation is a sector of the Insurance industry - another day, another dollar - and it isn't just there to give a soft living to the rich kids whose mummies and daddies sent them to private schools and posh universities.

Good luck to the man, and I take my hat off to his unknown lawyers.
