The main thrust of the show is this debt forgiveness nonsense. It never ceases to amaze me how the aul 'someone else should pay my way' free lunch finds a hungry audience. Wait til you see VB salivating at the thought of 'the rich' paying for the poor poor people.

Give people automatic access to interest only and/or debt for equity partial capital swap. Then let adults get on with the dealing with the results of their adult choices.

Hey, it seems to have worked for the banks so far. And I bet it was a slap-up lunch, too.

Two wrongs don't make a right. Let's not make ANOTHER stupid socialist bailout mistake.

Yes, because its so socialist to make citizens pay the debts of financiers while the financiers get to pocket the profits

It's precisely socialist. The State socialised private losses. God knows why. The Market should have been allowed to level, punish and clear.

It would only be socialism if it was accompanied by the public ownership of the profit side too ;)

It is. We own Anglo and soon will own AIB. Happy profiteering!

"A nation of begrudgers". A mortgage broker lecturing the country, who could believe it.

Am I alone in wishing that I could smash Vinnie's (false) teeth in with a monkey wrench every single bloody time that he launches into his infantile tirade against the use of the phrase "the Irish taxpayer" by one of his 'guests'?

He is one of the most irritating presenters in the whole of English-speaking world - makes Ryan Tubridy seem like Aristotle.

Does V B not realise that if the State takes equity in private houses, the houses will very rapidly fall into disrepair

I don't see people should be getting a free pass but debt restructuring where some portion is written could work but only if tied to a similar bond debt restucturing and write down.

Jim Power is right for once, the country can't afford to take on another 10-20 billion debt.

VB is tedious with his citizens, not taxpayers insistence.

"Where are you getting to get the money from?"
"Well, there's some money somewhere"
