… show will start about 8 minutes later tonight

Paul Cullen, Health correspondent Irish Times https://twitter.com/paulcullenit
Seán Healy, Social Justice Ireland Social Justice Ireland | Working to build a just society
Sarah McInerney, Political correspondent Sunday Times https://twitter.com/smissmac

Well, we’re still on the Budget tonight, with a selection of commentators who should raise a few interesting points about the Budget. The #VINB show must be learning from Norman, because unusually for tv3, they’ve also provided links to Irish Times articles. Two by Paul Cullen:

Drugs' high cost is a form of subsidy for jobs
Drugs' high cost is a form of subsidy for jobs - The Irish Times - Tue, Dec 11, 2012

Kenny and Reilly met major drug firm chiefs

And one by Harry McGee:
IFSC lobby group powerful in shaping policy
IFSC lobby group powerful in shaping policy - The Irish Times - Mon, Oct 08, 2012

So get reading the links. You’ve a lot of homework to do before the show starts.

Also, tonight the second part of the show will look at:

Supreme Court judgement on the Government’s information campaign on the Children’s Referendum & Paper preview:
Paul Anthony McDermott, Barrister Paul Anthony McDermott | Barristers' Database | Bar Council of Ireland

Should be an interesting enough show. Maybe there are a few pieces of info which hasn’t got a good airing up to now. We’ll see soon enough … :D

special branch/plain clothes priest fr sean healy:cool:
Vincent the trendy 'socialist' refuses to call him "Father" - so it'll be "Sean" this and "Sean" that.

Then, after the show, when the lights are out, Vincent will kneel down on the cold studio floor and Sean will grant him absolution for the sin of pride.

Yet not a word of a lie.
I disagree. For the life of me I cannot understand why any government should give anyone a monthly allowance that runs for 18 years merely because they have managed to produce a living sprog. Mothers should breed for sprogs if and only if they can afford them, not because they are subsidized by the State.

Why did you have 1 dot too many? Is that significant, or are you trying to get the Award for the shortest post? :D
Last time I won anything was for the slow bicycle race ... many moons ago ...

Ah, what regressive thought, to match the regressive budget. ;)

Mrs Mushroom and I used my monthly kids' allowance to buy lottery tickets. We won the lottery twice and are now multi-millionaires.

Most have more than one children so someone could be on lone parents 25 /30 years easily. My cousin has four kids, and has been claiming since 1993.

And when Mary Harney raised the issue, she was attacked by the feminazis (including, ironically, some of the current Labour top knobs) and had to recant and apologise!

Aside - what's the female equivalent of a top knob?

Healy is also a strong contender for my top 10 of windbags. The man has got prominence and credibility way beyond anything he deserves.

And there was I thinking you just didn't bother claiming the children's allowance.

But by claiming it, we gave our local postmistress a bit of business every month, plus she got the commission on the lottery tickets. And we did give it back to the government - via the lottery - which, as you know, helps to fund many good causes - including hospitals.
