Short show tonight on the penalty points report by Assistant Garda Commissioner John O’Mahony. Interesting panel lined up for it too. Clare should have lots to say …

Three out of 113 garda officers who cancelled penalty points are facing disciplinary proceedings [link to report below]. Assistant Garda Commissioner John O’Mahony‘s report found no evidence to suggest any act of criminality, corruption, deception or falsification as alleged by an anonymous author, who submitted two documents listing alleged irregularities.

The report says the vast majority of fixed notice charges for road traffic offences - almost 96% - were processed through the garda system without being terminated. The investigation was carried out after the Department of Justice sent anonymous documents to the Garda Commissioner about widespread abuse of the penalty points system.

Today's report says the documents contained 189 allegations relating to 2,198 fixed charge notices. An average of 10,701 notices were terminated every year by gardaí employing discretionary power.

So, a member of a force investigating issues within said force finds no evidence of criminality etc etc.

I'm disappointed no Ming.
Its good that there is no ming. This affair is a lot bigger than ming. Despite how our media chose to spin it a few months back.
Wonder if that sharp ,insightful lady from 'the star' will have any names for us this evening?
Or might she try to bring it on back to ming , just like Shatter tried to do today.

Maybe he's being circumspect because every time he opens his mouth he seems to put his feet there ...
Yeah,a walking contradiction, after initially causing uproar about Gardai abuse of the penalty point system,it transpired he'd had points. Himself written off twice. His claiming of expenses in the Dail whilst away in Morocco on a junket, has also done his reputation no favours.

Why is Ming so uncharacteristically silent on this?
He's not,he spoke about it today, and tweeted about a need for an independent inquiry.

I presume (or hope) that is a fake twitter account for Catherine Halloran?

Ming is waiting for the whitewash to peel off Leinster House then he will prime Shatter's facade.
