Tonight Vinny talks to Peter and Luke to get an outsiders perspective on Ireland’s Presidency of the European Council and the prospects of a bank debt deal.

Peter Spiegel, Financal Times Brussels Chief https://twitter.com/SpiegelPeter
Luke Baker, Reuters Brussels Chief https://twitter.com/LukeReuters

They’ll be joined by:

Andy Storey, School of Politics & Int Relations UCD UCD Dublin | Research | Politics & Int Relations
Brigid Laffan, Principal, UCD College of Human Sciences UCD President's Office: Professor Brigid Laffan

Today the Government said it is to focus on Anglo deal during Ireland's EU presidency

So a good interesting show, full of uplighting discussion, is on the cards for tonight.

Just how long is that piece of string, Mr Van Rompuy?

And if you're quick, you can catch John Waters on Midweek beforehand.

And he's talking about the great buzz of The Gathering, and there's no 'down side'..

Looks like most of the stuff in Dublin is gonna be 'Informal'...

Looks like a good old party for them all and not much else...

Or does 'Informal' mean something different in EU speak...?

Painful for "All citizens from top to bottom?"

We're 6 years into this in Ireland and the top here have contributed next to nothing.

Very bad planning for March 14-15. The European Council meeting in Brussels clashes with Cheltenham festival's Saint Patrick's Day(moved to the 13th) and Gold Cup Day. Remember what happened last year when the FG committee members were locked out and missed the vote. It was later revealed that they were locked, in the Dail Bar, watching the Cheltenham races on the telly.

The periphery? Lovely term, isn't it.
I thought we were at the arse of Europe. Oh right.
