Vincent Browne has just said on his show (the main thread on tonight's show is here) that TV3 asked Fianna Fail to provide a Minister or Junior Minister for tonight's show.

Browne said Fianna Fail offered a choice of two backbenchers and Vincent Browne said a decision was taken to not accept Fianna Fail's offer given that they (the backbenchers) would only be punching bags for the Government and aren't responsible for the day to day running of the Government.

Makes sense. The back benchers would offer nothing and just use their position outside the cabinet as an excuse.

FF HQ must have mis-heard Vincent and thought the show was about hand-outs so the offered to send a backbencher called Bertie.

By the way, when was the last time that Lenihan was involved in an actual debate, as opposed to a pre recorded interview? Anyone know exactly?

same thing happend on the last word earlier on in the week.

lets call a spade a spade here. theres DOZENS of the feckers if you include the juniors, the very least they could do is find ONE.

Theyve gone to ground.

very true , and Matt Cooper had to say so on his show.

They've gone to ground alright. They must know the end is coming.

They're all in the bunker. It's like the last days of the third reich. Someone needs to put together another Downfall sketch!

TRUE!!...and Rabitte(who is not in finance either???)
Browne said they'd have taken a junior minister (presumably Hayes's "equivalent").

It' a fair call by VB/TV3 IMO
