Yet they are the same very people who have destroyed this country for generations after it recovered from the last time they done the same to the country.
The NAMA situation and it's buildup is got to be the greatest in the states history, and FF are it's architects so why do they deserve another go?

Question is a bit of a contradiction - you have to vote for someone.

The fact that FF know that they're not getting reelected means they have the appetite for the necessary non-populist decisions (which have negatively affected me as a ps worker).

Labour are selling a fairy story, FG well who knows what they're selling.

After that, you only have the lunatic fringe - treehuggers, provos & hard left fantasists.

Unfortunately in Ireland we don't vote "for" or "against" FF, we vote for one or more local candidates who may or may not be in FF. Over the coming two years prospective FF candidates will distance themselves from the policies and practices of the leadership (Willie O'Dea was always the master at coming out against FF policies over the weekend in Limerick before getting driven in the Ministerial Merc up to the Cabinet meetings where he was immediately subject to "collective responsibility", Tom Kitt on radio this morning explaining to all that would listen about how he tried to get the "Government" to reconsider all it's bad policies since the day he became party whip).

So they'll all try to re-write their roles in the past decade, and some will be more successful than others. In addition, there will be some FF TDs who are genuinely good local representatives and who will deserve to be elected as a local representative.

Therein lies the problem - government is national, and FF applies the Whip relentlessly - party before people - so all of a sudden the vote for the best local candidate (who happened to be a FFer) is now a vote for FF.

I don't think it's possible to talk about reasons that don't involve the other parties. It works both ways though, apart from "They're not FF" there's no earthly reason to vote for FG either. The only thing FF have going for them is the "Better the devil you know" argument.

1. Since the last rainbow, Labour have moved more to the Left and FG to the right. It's hard to see how they can actually govern together. How will they deal with the public sector? No idea. Couldn't be bothered to address it. How will they deal with Anglo? No idea. Couldn't be bothered to address it.
2. And it's hard to see that because Labour have virtually no policies, and theones they do have contradict FGs stances.
3. Kenny will be the leader of a coalition where about 65% of the participants will not want him.
4. Lenihan's done a competent job given his utter lack of economic knowledge and the mess left for him by Cowen.
5. They have a plan. It's not a very good plan, but it's a plan. Labour/FG have no plan.

But really all they have going for them is that there's no government in waiting and they seem to have stemmed the hemmoraging. Of course they were the ones that stabbed us in the jugular in the first place though...

Can we reward the greatest economic failure in European modern times?

No, I agree it seems crazy & IMO Bertie deserves a public flogging, but what can you do ?

I'd rather have lenihan doing his stuff than anyone else at the moment.

They don't deserve another go and will not get another go . I gave five reasons why you could vote FF but only the diehard FF follower believes in any of them.

FFS - as long as people actually believe this we're not going to recover.

Faced down the unions....no paycuts and no redundencies...I wish my boss had faced me down this way.

In terms of steering the country out of recession - all they've done is tax, tax, tax...we've turned so many corners we're probably heading back where we've come from.

Experience...how did this help us in the past...experience counts for nothing when all you do is take "the best advice available" from vested interests.

The policies aren't costed...we don't even know how much Anglo will cost us, or the bank guarantee, or Nama...

Wait...were you just having a laugh???

i think the 'better the devil you know' argument just won't wash anymore. The devil we know has had the best part of the last twenty years in power and 'we are where we are' as they say.

How can someone be a die hard FF supporter? It is the same as the people in Zimbabwe who support Zanu PF- they only do say against the greater good of the country because they personally stand to gain from it and screw the masses.
