None of us ever retires these times, but .... life on a beach is too boring.

Gerry Adams will announce his plans to retire after 34 years as president of Sinn Féin on Saturday, marking a generational shift that will break the leadership’s last link with republican violence.
Adams will take to the stage of Dublin’s RDS conference hall to set out an exit that some analysts say will improve Sinn Féin’s electoral chances in the Irish Republic.
But sources within the mainstream Irish republican movement and veteran Adams-watchers believe the 69-year-old will still hold the centre of power in Sinn Féin from behind the scenes long after his official successor is elevated to the top post.

Sinn Fein is under the control of the PIRA---the real leadership will not change.

He is not that Wee . Not good to start off with an in-accuracy .

I've just had crispy bacon for my tea, and a tumbler of port, so. "Wee" is meant as a familiar term, not a**e licking and not rude. He's a part of the furniture and some sort of distant cousin to us all.

A "slow learner" but better slow than never. Now that tumbler needs a refill....

Good, underlying stability is important in a transition

Can we be sure that the Brits have not given Gerry the six counties to avoid all this potential border trouble ?

Djarryango, Slab, Slabs nephew, Stumpy, Cupbert, Phew and Barney McGoo...

A lot of the recent immigrants do go overboard on the green flag angle, while us ancient aboriginal natives go on quietly chewing the cud in the damp and the dew like our forefathers did since brian boru's times.

Grand, we'll believe it when we hear it from the horses mouth. Getting very long in the tooth is Gerry, long past time for retiring to the grass.

Wow - Comrade Bob and Djerry gone in the same week? If I was Hun Sen in Cambodia (class of '85 - a mere stripling in fairness), I'd be getting worried.
