US to Sanction Companies Involved in Russia's Nord Stream 2 - Freedoms Phoenix

US threatens China with tariffs and then states that if China buys billions more in US LNG it may reconsider.

All the while State Department is threatening to sanction any company that is involved in Nord Stream 2 which bypasses countries and goes via Baltic to Germany.

Following Ukraine's stealing of gas meant for EU countrys there has been a clear view from Russia in not allowing this to occur.

It is noticeable that US demands are that it doesn't want Russia supplying Europe while opening its own exports up for European consumers. Poland is buying US LNG at twice the price of Russian gas.

Now it is threatening China because China and Russia signed multi Billion $ deals for next 20 years a couple of years ago .............. this allows China not to bother using US$ which threatens US Hegemony of Financial Markets.

The continuing demonisation is just another part of a new Cold War with its aim of destroying Russia because it stood up to US in Ukraine and Syria.

Ireland of course signed up to 1/3 of its gas requirements from a US Company in 2017.

Nice thesis. But it assumes the current US administration is able to form a plan... or a rational thought.

Energy Dominance is a theme for the Trump Administration. While it is generally incoherent, there is a real plan to remove any environmental protection to allow oil, coal or gas drilling, and to open up federal lands for exploitation (including what were nature reserves).

Trump's coal policy is a failure, but it may succeed in other areas. The USA is on the way (back) to being the world's number one supplier of fossil fuel. HOwever, Trump cannot control the US' own energy market, and renewable energy is making inroads that he cannot stop. In fact, the US renewable energy industry is a larger employer than the fossil fuel industry.

With all Trump's faults, the US is surely a more secure source for fuel than Russia, which stoops to blackmail by threatening to cut off supplies.

Europe is part of the Eurasian landmass.

It is generally cheaper to pipe gas from Russia to elsewhere in Europe than it is to ship LNG over the Atlantic.

Let Europe do business with Russia.

Nordstream 2 is not a bad thing.

The Chinese are a bigger threat to the Americans than the Russians by quite a distance.

It was a mistake to ally with the US in pushing their empire eastwards in the '90s.
