Personally I would like to see the following........

Halving of employers PRSI payments on the lower paid.
A rise at the amount at which people start to pay the top rate of tax to 45,000
A reduction in tax offsets like private health care, private pension provision and mortgage interest with a few to their phasing out.
A one percent cent across the board cut in USC
A sharp increase in tax on lump sum payments over 30,000 given to public sector workers on retirement.
Abolition of the TV license including the privatisation of RTE 2 television and 2fm
Increase in spending on transport in Dublin and a increased borrowing for the state to build housing
An increase in the money available for care at home to get elderly out of hospitals.
A ban on all public sector increments.

I would love to see a white collar crime unit that tracked down all the scumbag fraudsters and tax evaders with extreme prejudice.
We're both dreaming though.

Pay people to go for medicals twice a year.

The saving would be huge in the long term with early detection.

Social housing dwellers being means tested every 4 years. There are many social houses where the collective income of those living there is beyond what the tax payer should be subsidising.

There is one I know of which has 3 Taxi drivers living there, we need to get real and only be providing social housing for families in real need not subsidising trips to Spain and the local boozer for those in zero need.

I have a life.
A voucher for all...

€50 set dinner menu includes deep fried panko-coated squid for starters, followed by sirloin steak with a mushroom and cognac sauce.

Come on Norin.

Balance that with a serious crackdown on excessive drinking, smoking and fatty diets.....and we're on the way to something good.

An end to free legal aid for perpetual criminals, three times is enough for the state to provide free legal aid, after that fuk em. It's a pure gravy train for the legal profession and an incentive for them to ensure their criminal clients stay on the street to commit more crime so they get yet more legal fees.

1) Reform of the medical card system, remove all non medical based benefits of the card and have a social welfare card for those benefits

2) A return to taxation based on household.income
3) Implementation of a single means testing system for all who pay tax and or avail.of state services

  1. In my opinion the lowest band of USC should stay unchanged. It's important everyone contributes a bit. Instead we could cut the second and third rate by more then 0.5%.
  2. Scrap definition of the First Time Buyer. It's simply wrong.
  3. No grants for first time buyers (which would only inflate the prices).
  4. Increase income tax marginal rate entry point by 2-3k this year and promise further increases over the next budgets to ~40-45k

Children's allowance linked to school attendance.

No state housing can be bigger than 4 bedroom and 1,500 sq ft.

All state housing to be banded and lowest and most remote grade reserved for the criminal underclass or persistent anti social chavs.

Illiteracy not to be considered a disability unless there is a definitive diagnosis of intellectual impairment or profound learning disability.

Dole for the unemployable to be dependent on attendance and progress in education.

As mentioned above, insurance fraud is an issue. Whiplash and other bs to be limited to one accident occurance per nuclear family. No one should be that unlucky......
