When and how will Gerry Adams leave his Sinn Féin roles, and who'd fill them ?

Gerry protested more about Slab Murphy's conviction than did others in his party

Martin McGuinness is the person who took executive power in NI, not Gerry

Gerry today openly addressed the issue of his continued leadership of Sinn Féin
Adams non-committal on leadership question - RTÉ News
Sinn Féin president Gerry Adams has said it is not a question of if he will stand down as leader of the party, but when....
Mr Adams said he and others had been subjected to abuse online. He added that no one in Sinn Féin should be involved in anything but the best of behaviour, in particular on social media.
Gerry Adams had an issue with his brother ...and others...and he's uncomfortable still about the Jean McConville murder
No charges for Gerry Adams as McConville family vows not to give up fight for justice

The IRA plainly had , or thought they had, a top level mole

There's been recent developments on the Denis Donaldson case

It is not at all clear that "Stakeknife" was one person...or that Freddie Scappaticci had any knowing involvment with the "Stakeknife" channel

Certain SF/IRA disinformation agents on these very boards get nervous when Gerry Adams status is brought up. For the record ...I certainly don't think he was an informant.

So ...how will it end for Gerry ?
Who might take over ?

Gerry will say hes taking a step back for health reasons and overwork, will not be party leader but will probably remain as TD in Louth for at least 10 ,more years.

The successor
-for vote catching it should be a woman[mary Lou] but if they can find a gay man preferably from the border counties to lead that would be a winning card and even better if his partner was from the Deep south cork/kerry/ Waterford or maybe a Dub because thats just the way Ireland is

If the gay man in his early 40s had a minor IRA combat role as a teenager but nothing messy , say did 2 years for firearms possession, that would win over hardliners

I know how a lot of people in NI would like it to end for Gerry Adams, and I don't have to spell it out. Suffice to say, a hero to some, villain to others, Mr Adams has certainly made his mark upon Irish and Irish Republican history, and a future British monarch shall lay a tribute to both he and McGuinness at a future commemoration event post reunification, just as the Queen paid her respects to those who dedicated and gave their lives for Irish freedom in Dublin in 2011. Adams is both partly responsible for the perpetuation of the PIRA campaign, and its termination, and people from within both traditions in the north shall admire and despise him for both, depending on their respective loyalties, allegiances and political perspective. I think he'll probably step down within the next few years, and hand the reigns over to Mary Lou, who seems a capable politician, and incidentally had a song written about her.

It's been done and dusted for at least a year. Doesn't take a genius to work it out.

The successor
Pearse Doherty would a fresh start for SF

he is a great speaker
he supported the Mar Ref
no blood on his hands
he supported the banks (like any smart politician would)
he is an intelligent man
he never covered up sex abuse
he never made excuses for Slab

those people didn't stay silent for almost a decade while their brothers sexually abused children
Can you perhaps elaborate and/or rephrase this in order to make it intelligible?

He is straight and is prematurely aging, in shallow Ireland appearance and camp is everything, Pearse would not be suitable

What makes you so sure that Pearse has no skeletons in his cupboard?
