This is a thread about WHERE to buy the poppy, any distracting or off topic contributions won't be tolerated.

So therefore political comments on the issue will not be allowed?

I thought non-political threads were to be discouraged on this site?

I am sure there are plenty of more appropriate message boards if Hibernopiles has a genuine consumer query.

No, the person who started the thread wants the question answered, simple enough.

Let's stay ON TOPIC.

Anyone who wants to debate a thought of their own can do so in the right context.

I don't know where you live, but if you are anywhere near Cork, the British Legion sell poppies around Poppy Day on the street just off the Grand Parade (heading back towards the Quays).

I am sure that they are sold in Dublin as well. If you live near Tipperary, you can contact me by PM, and I will assist you in giving you the name of the person who tends to the British War Memorial in Cahir every Sunday. I imagine as he puts a Poppy Wreath on the Memorial every year, that he too could assist you in buying a poppy.

Best of luck.

A florist shoudl do you nicely for what you're looking for. Seriously, the artificial ones look a bit naff. Go for the natural look.

I knew I was taking a risk; however, my question is sincere: where can I buy a poppy for remembrance day 2007? I reside in the south Dublin area and I have rarely seen them on sale, apart from a source in Glenageary who is no longer in a position to oblige me.

Oh I know it's sincere, which is why I sent out a warning.

If you don't know the answer to the question, don't post a comment.

I promise you people wont- but it'll give me just cause to kick some ass when they go off on one (like they so-often do).

The head office of the British Legion in Ireland is on South Frederick St, Dublin 2.

Ph: 01 6713044

I am sure they can tell you where to get them.

Theres no problem in Dublin, sold regularly on Grafton street (by myself) on the run up to Armistice Day, outside Easons (O;Connell St) by veterans, and several shopping centres. Generally near Nolans (clontarf), superquin sutton, frascati centre blackrock and others i presume.

No probs wearing them in Ireland ever, i never so far have had a bad word said to me, a few well dones tho.

I you want one PM me, or call into the one of the Legion offices or social clubs around Dublin, Cork, Limerick, and Cahir.

Better still, grow your own. Cut out the profiteers.
