Bertie gave big money to GAA at one stage to develop Croke Park and keep it from allowing Soccer and Rugby played there . He wanted to build his own Bertie Bowl
GAA thenselves responsible for any decision on who plays in Croke Park. Nothing to do with politicians.

As for stadium in West Dublin, made sense as could have been built without x years of disruption at Lansdowne road, add in infrastructure then it would have been a 65,000 seater stadium, instead stuck with Aviva where part of stadium doesn't even have a proper stand.

Cost of Abbotstown Stadium was €350 million, cost of Aviva was €411 plus selling the land of the Aviva for apartments would have generated €50 million.

Bertie Ahern: - Independent.ie

"But he said she has made "a lot of mistakes".

Who TF does he think he is, he bankrupted the country and had to resign in disgrace, yet he thinks he can lecture the PM of another country, FF/FG should add another line to their supply agreement "Keep Ahern off the airwaves and printed media", he will say something really stupid soon and it will cause trouble, he represents nothing, he is the strawman.

Letters to the Editor: - Independent.ie

"I am not diminishing Ahern's contribution, but neither am I willing to forget the part he and FF played in destroying this country's economy. The way he always put FF before anything else. The way he defended the indefensible, as long as it was in FF's interest.

No, Mr Harris could temper his eulogising of Mr Ahern, he does not require that 'dig out'!

Nice letter on Ahern, he is only a stone's throw away from a comeback.

Ahern: UK must postpone Brexit | Ireland | The Sunday Times

Ahern guessing and spluttering away as usual, he's nobody's child, FF wouldn't plss on him but MeHole is still loyal and afraid of him.

“It’s in Ireland’s national interest to be close to the British. They are our nearest and biggest neighbours.”

The old girlfriend Celia Larkin is now living in the UK, reckon Ahern catches up every other weekend as he watches United with his mates who used to throw money at him.

UK should stay in Customs Union to protect backstop - Bertie Ahern | Irish Examiner

"He told the Pat Kenny show on Newstalk that “tinkering around” with “the next best idea” was not ideal".

Ahern cannot shut up and plss off, he thinks he is on a Quiz Show and has to guess the right answers, he so badly wants to be seen as a major peacemaker in NI, when it was Albert who did all the leg work, Ahern came on as a late sub and got to do the victory lap, then had to resign because of findings at Mahon and his "won it on the horses" defence.

The unspoken bit is somewhere around 'And besides I get to go to dinner and bow to a member of the House of Lords because they let me join de, de, de Knights of Whassname'.

'No. Wait. 'Tis the Sovereign Knights of Maltesers and Gibraltars. No. That's not right. Gregory and de, de, de Slitherins... no, that's not it either...'

The One Holy Apostolic Order of the Three Bob Note. I wonder does the head of the lay order in the House of Lords know that one of his ribbon-holders is a self-declared 'socialist'?

These lay orders aren't in the habit of inviting socialists into their ranks so the only conclusion can be they know he was a total bullshytter as well.

They do allow total bullshytters.

Time to socially isolate these chancers who reduced this country to pauper status to ensure their builder friends stayed in their mansions.

Was I hearing things just a short while ago or did Bertie say at some House of Commons meeting today "when I changed articles 2 and 3 of the constitution " ?
Isn't he awfully helpful all the same ? He saves the country the bother of holding a referendum and, Dev style, looks into his own heart to see what the people of Ireland are thinking.
Supreme gobsh1te.

Probably popped around to the House of Lords after to bow to his Master in the papal order he is a member of. The head of the order is a member of the House of Lords.

The little republican socialist.

How did he get an invitation to the HOC, he will totally undermine the Govt and Vlad to keep his own perceived place in History, he is a chancer from DNS.

Think Hillary Benn of labour invited him.
