Who is the greatest national embarrassment as an individual and as an institution?

To me there is a clear winner in the individual category - The Village imbecile we have as Taoiseach, indeed there was a great example of it recently when Mutti Merkel told him to fook off over wanting our special position on Brexit to be recognized.
The previous redneck buffoon we had in that job was even worse in fairness and through his negligence did a lot more damage, while he he retires on his fat pension and on the board of Topaz!
Mind you, AK 47 and Fascist Phil are certainly contendas for the raspberry also!

Re Institution award winner, to me it has to be the Guards, The Pigz! When you have an institution styling itself as the guardians of the peace and 2 of its members are recorded on a camera (and to thick to realize it) confiscated from a protester at Rosport, speculating about what it would be like to rape this woman and also about fiddling their over time and then when brought before a board of discipline, they face absolutely no consequence, then the game is up!
In Galway City, AFAIK according to their figures we have 300 heroin addicts, sure such a thing is only possible if these gobshytes aren't doing their job!
Unless of course as it seems they interpret their job as protecting the wealthiest people, the sort of scum that benefited immeasurably from austerity and policing everyone else!

It's a totally legitimate thread and question, Piesters are being asked who is the national embarrassment in their eyes!
What's wrong with that, admittedly those chosen and supporters of those chosen may be put out a little - tough shyte!

A Kafkaesque situation where the answer to the OP is the OP.

It's a little whiney rant inviting little whiney rants from 'one of the most engaged, respected and influential politics and current affairs communities'.

No, it's an unedifying invitation to wallow in everything that is bad about online political debate.

Given the reasons why I have outlined my selections, it would be difficult for even any individual Piester poster here to be considered in that class even you or statsman!

So u would rather us to have gone down the road of Greece, where would we be today back to where this country was in 08, unemployment closer to 20% than 7%, that would be with another couple hundred thousands emigrated, the number of the people who committed suicide trebled.

... 'clinically depressed' belongs in there somewhere too.

Here's the cheery front page:

TERROR STRIKES GERMANY... MASS UNMARKED GRAVE... TERRORIST ATTACK IN NICE... PROSTITUTION... WHAT IS TERRORISM... 2 POLICE SHOT... MASS SHOOTING IN FLORIDA... THE INVASION OF EUROPE... COMPENSATION CULTURE... JERRY MCCABE KILLING... ANOTHER DAY IN EUROPE, ANOTHER AKBAR KILLING... DONALD TRUMP... ZIKA VIRUS HEALTH SCARE...

Is it any wonder people end up 'tired all the time'.

I nominate The Front Page for an Urko.
