Why are so many council houses going to foreigners?

TRALEE Town Council has been called on to examine how it decides on who gets local authority housing after the majority of houses it allocated in the last four months went to foreign nationals.

Disgusting how an Irish family have been on the waiting list for Seven Years and yet foreigners are jumping the que.

So much for them all going home and why would they when they get treated better than us!

quiet night over at sturmfrunt ? trust the far right to try and start a debate around housing while omitting to mention theres currently 300,000 houses lying empty all around the country thanks to the property balsology . Of course that would involve addressing the issue of private property and possibly encourage people to commit acts of violence against capitalists as opposed to putting dog poo through the letter boxes of immigrants . Which is what they want us to do .

I am surprised at you, Merle. If you want to annoy racists, you should have gone for a black guy and a white girl.

Let's leave race out of this and focus on what the correct criteria ought to be when it comes to allocating council housing. For me it should be allocated on the basis of need.

What strikes me as silly is why the council would have to allocate housing at all. What exactly is the market value of all of those unused and empty houses? I'd be surprised if many of them were worth more than 50 or 60 grand. That being the case, a family on social welfare could easily afford one. Even a 10 year fixed rate repayble over 30 years mortage on such a property would not cost more than about 260 or 270 quid a month net.

Be nice. My meaning was that if houses are sitting empty and close to valueless, it has to be cheaper to use those than overpay some crony developer. And if those houses are affordable on welfare, then doesn't it make more sense that they should be full owners rather than tenants?

the estates are empty and without basic amenities . Thanks to a complete lack of or disregard for planning nobody wants to live in them . They want to live in communities with people . Greed went mad . Many of them are better off bulldozed in my opinion , including many of the ones people are actually living in . Our next genrations social problems are going to be absolutely hilarious .

The Irish are a white people, change the Irish look to black or African appearance and this is not how the Irish for millenia looked like... Many Far East Asians or Middle Easterners hold a similiar view - it's not the blackness of the colour itself it's simply that darkness of skin is a huge phenotype change (it would be the same if there was a race with 6 inch ears (however attractive six inch (elf) ears might in theory actually be). I wouldn't like to wake up tomorrow and be surrounded by dark skinned people everywhere - it wouldn't feel like Ireland (and in addition it would leave ME the odd one out), maybe that makes me a racist or maybe it makes me a kind of conservationist? There are people out there (and in more positions of influence than there are 'conservationists') who think the precise opposite, that miscegenation is essential and must be promoted (not just tolerated 100% but promoted as far as possible), that white populations are unacceptable. I hope some white Irish survive the present times.

We have to distinguish between conceptions of innate racial inferiority/superiority which are racist on the one hand and not wanting massive sudden change (which is wanting to conserve what is) on the other, the latter would be just as likely to oppose colonialism in Africa if a large group of whites wanted to move over there to do that - the former would support the right of the whites to dominate in Africa. See? the difference between an actual racist and someone who just wants to conserve the way things have always been (or is wary of change and becomes more wary the sharper the bend, the faster the rate of change) is really quite easy to explain.

Let's leave race out of this and focus on what the correct criteria ought to be when it comes to allocating council housing. For me it should be allocated on the basis of need.
Whose 'need' though, the whole worlds?

This thread evokes the diverging emotions among us. The instinctive look out for your own, mindset V the indoctrinated, we are all God's children mantra.

This is simply nature V nuture. During a economic depression behavioural causal traits become exposed among those that have been affected. During the last Great Depression these crisis of conscience was harnessed and maximised for political gain which ultimately led to the establishment of National Socialism and Fascism within mainstream political thought in Europe in the 1930s.

It is entirely understandable for people to feel aggrieved when they witness outsiders having the prerogative over the locals. Its human nature. This emotion can be expressed in such a way that another section of our society that is far removed from the situation can interpret it as being prejudice. Its human nature.

The worse thing we can do is too patronise one line of mindset over the other. One gets dubbed the cotton picking yokel racist, the other the Guardian reading liberal hypocrite. Its merely an argument, its just a matter of meeting half ways. The Guardian reader can continue the preaching non racial PC homilies from the safety of suburbia, but the concerned local who witnesses his her community changing rapidly to the stress of him / her and their friends and relatives. Their concerns being interpreted as extreme are pushed underground by the "liberal" main stream media. An opportunist notices this, listens to their views and establishes a form of "workers part / national front/ national Irish blah blah, the exact same thing that happened in the 1920s in German. All they needed then was a period of economic collapse to boost their profile and ratings.

All I am saying is when people post their observations, listen to them. If you do not agree, simply challenge their views. If it is extreme. show them the errors of their ways. But don't play the race card. Because that just makes people walk away and feel that there is no point in talking about their fears. And then someone does, but.....

its wrong though to catgorise everyone who opposes far right hate mongers seeking to scapegoat immigrants in a time of economic collapse as guardian reading politically correct tofu munchers .
Personally im strongly opposed to this culturalist marxist ballsology which automatically invests an inherent virtue in minorities , whether they be immigrants , travellers , gays....whatever . Im also opposed to current levels of immigration and the ideology which believes the hidden hand of the free market should regulate immigration . I favour strong immigration controls and future planning in that regard taking resources into account . At the same time im very conscious of attempts by hate mongers to whip up hatred against minorities and know precisely whats down that street . Its clear from the original posts there was only blame attached to immigrants themselves over the issue of 11 houses in tralee . When its not immigrants who plan develop or allocate houses . That needs to be strongly opposed and the emptiness and hypocrisy of the far right agenda pointed out whenever they try it on.

Apologies Merle if I my post appeared polarised. That was not my intention. I don't believe any poster in this thread is either a complete bigot or a PC drone. I was just trying to illustrate lessons from history. It is hard to convey so forgive my use of language.

I suppose what i am trying to say is that we that what we learn from history is that views of dissent during depressions no matter how extremist (not implying this thread is) should be listened to and challenged rational. There is a whole massive underworld out here waiting.

Let's have the public debate then about our obligations to Irish, other EU nationals, non-EU nationals instead of the constant PC drivel which shouts racist every time and ignores real issues and concerns.

Will it happen? It hasn't so far so......

Fair play to Cllr Wall for standing up to the PC brigade who always play the racist-card to silence legitimate debate on immigration policy. It is not the fault of the immigrants, but it is the fault of the PC elites in this country whose worldview disposes them to an automatic categorisation of "non-Western" with "victim" and "Westerner" as "oppressor". Straight out of the Frankfurt school of Cultural-Marxist old toss.
