Why Hasn't Ireland recognised Palestine yet?

In recent years, both houses of the Oireachtas have voted to call on the government to recognise Palestine as a State. In 2011, Ireland gave diplomatic status to the Palestinian representation in Dublin, yet the State has not gone the full mile in recognising Palestine outright.

Many EU countries such as Sweden and Poland recognise Palestine.

Given that there is seemingly large support for Irish recognition of Palestine, both within the Oireachtas and society at large, why has this been unforthcoming?

Snivelling cowards you mean.
According to some on here, Trump's acceptance of a congratulatory phone call from the leader of a place in similar circumstances will lead to nuclear war.

This obviously means that Dáil Éireann fully recognizing Palestine as a State would mean that Bibi would have the nukes in the air before the last Tá was cast.

Then, ya know, the Brits would see them on their radar and launch a counter strike, which would lead to the Russians having a pop back, and in turn the Chinese. Not wanting to feel left out, the US would simply have to go off. See where this is going?

We'll all be baffled, trumped, tethered and cropped.

The Word according to Wiki.

In January 2011, Ireland accorded the Palestinian delegation in Dublin diplomatic status.[267] A few months later, their Foreign Affairs Minister stated that Ireland would "lead the charge" in recognising Palestinian statehood, but that it would not come until the PNA was in full and sole control over its territories.[268] In October 2014, the Upper House of the Irish Parliament unanimously passed a motion calling on the Government to recognise the State of Palestine.[269] In December 2014, the Dail Éireann (Ireland's lower house) followed suit.[270]

Palestine is a bad joke. The entire Middle East needs to be redrawn.
Its not just Israel that should cede land to the Palestinians.
The whole neighborhood is an unsustainable throwback to colonial times.

The Israelis are probably thinking more in terms of everybody else ceding land to them

The Palestinians don't even recognize Palestine.

Growing divisions within Fatah, divsions between Fatah and Hamas - when you read a story like this, you realise that the main obstacles to the emergence of a Palestinian state are Palestinian leaders.

Reports In Arab Press: 'Abbas Resisted Arab League Pressure To Appoint Successor
Young Palestinians are the first victims of Fatah corruption and misrule.

A quick chat with young Palestinians, including Fatah members [...] will reveal a driving sense of betrayal. [...] They speak of the PA as a corrupt and incompetent body that is managed by "mafia leaders." Others see the Palestinian Authority is a pawn in the hands of Israel and the US. More importantly, many of the[m] believe that it is only a matter of time before Palestinians launch an intifada against the PA.
"The Palestinian Authority is controlled by thieves who do not care about us," complained Hassan Abu Ayyash, a young man who describes himself as a "Fatah activist"[...].

"They are getting hundreds of millions of dollars from the international community and distributing them among themselves and their sons. Look at all the big buildings and fancy restaurants and bars in Ramallah. Where do they get all the money to purchase expensive cars?"

It might have something to do with our Minister for Foreign Affairs, Charlie Flanagan, being a member of Oireachtas Friends of Israel or the craven attitude of the Crony Parties to their betters in the US and EU.

There is no such state as Palestine.

Because 'Palestine' is not a real country.
Its an imaginary nirvana-like place created by Leftists simply to annoy America and Israel.
Its inhabited by the kindest, gentlest, most misunderstood people in the world who are always unfairly getting themselves into trouble and who only want to live their lives in peace and harmony with their fellow man.

If Continental Europe wasn't full of genocidal maniacs it wouldn't be a problem.

Even after the Holocaust the depraved Continental genocidal Europeans couldn't leave the Jews alone.

The fact that these two rightist weirdos go out of their way to lie and denigrate the state of Palestine is proof positive that it is a state.

The State of Palestine (Arabic: دولة فلسطين‎‎ Dawlat Filasṭīn), also known simply as Palestine, is a de jure sovereign state[15][16] in the Middle East that is recognized by 136 UN members and since 2012 has a status of a non-member observer state in the United Nations – which amounts to a de facto, or implicit, recognition of statehood.[17][18][19]

Islam claims Ireland as Muslim territory and regards the Irish Republic as a criminal illegal state.

I'd say most people don't care for your zionazi view of Palestine or Palestinians.

The fact is they exist, they existed before Israel and they'll exist after Israel.

Whatever about that they are people in their native country and they cannot be exterminated (I know you're devestated to hear that) or shoved off their land :)

Or, more accurately, a state of mind - but certainly not a country.
A country is defined as "A nation with its own government, occupying a particular territory"
It fails on every level by that definition.

The Muslim population of Israel is greatly expanded since the establishment of the State of Israel. A strange type of genocide / displacement when a group's numbers increase? Compare that to the numbers of Jews living in Arab lands e.g. Iraq 1948 150,000 whilst Jews today in Iraq less than a hundred persons. At the end of 2011, the Muslim population of Israel was estimated to be 1.354 million, an increase of around 33,000 residents as compared to the end of 2010.
