According to new diplomatic cables released by Wikileaks in the last few days, the Vatican dismissed reports of the murders of many people in Chile as ''possibly [the] greatest success of Communist propaganda''.

''The cables also showed the Vatican later realized the full extent of the abuses being carried out," according to AFP, "but refused to criticize Pinochet's regime openly and continued with normal diplomatic relations."

Pinnochet's revolution was assisted by the Chicago Boys working out of the catholic University of Santiago.

Do you really believe the church did not know what was being organised there before it happened?

The CIA and the Catholic Church both either gave their active support or looked the other way because despite the savagery of right wing juntas their eyes were fixed on preventing Soviet expansion in Latin America.

Social democrats, trade unions, students, left wing parties, journalists, academic etc whether the KGB were string pullers or not were vehicles for communists to try and replace the juntas with pro-Soviet regimes.

The activities of the death squads were primarily about military strongmen eliminating all opposition and first world capitalist interests getting a foothold by giving them their backing in support for access to national resources.

BUT as the CIA and Catholic Church saw it while they were undoubtedly butchering innocent people they were also getting rid of the communists threat.

Centuries before when crusaders were concerned about unwittingly killing Christians when capturing Saracen controlled cities they were told by the Church:

"Kill them all. God knows his own."

"Kill them all. God knows his own."

Ye clown that comes from the Albigensian crusade.

Wouldn't expect you to know that though as there probably isn't a you tube video to consult.

As for the Vatican cosying up to dictators.

They've done that from the time of Charles Martel through to William the barsteward right up until the modern day.

In the good ole days no one was aware and all's the murderer's had to do was build a Church, the size depended on how many deaths you were responsible for.

Germans controlled about 80% of the country's international commerce and married into the mulatto families bypassing the constitutional prohibition against foreign land-ownership. They clearly sought to colonize Haiti.

Germany also tried to encourage Mexico to attack the U.S. which was a major contributor to America entry into World War I.

Prior to WWI German immigrants colonized much of southern Chile.

The influence of the Prussian Army was very strong on the Chilean military and German influence is still obvious today.

After the defeat of Nazi Germany, Soviet expansion became obvious in the overt or covert support of left wing political movements in Latin America.

That is why America quickly forgave the sins of ex-Gestapo and SD and Wehrmacht personnel who traveled to South America and had key roles in training South America military and police death squads and helped set up torture centers and camps.

Otto Skorenzy, the SS commando whose troops rescued Mussolini, who lived between Ireland and Spain helped train right wing military and mercenaries in Latin America and across the 3rd world in the 1950s and 1960s. It is also said he and other former German special forces helped train American special forces.

The Irish connection to Argentina remained strong during the Peron era and despite the military junta in the 1970s and 1980s and indeed Charles Haughey who was friends with Skorenzy and sought arms from Flemish Nazi Albery Luykx was an opponent of the Falklands War.

Irish Catholic priests and religious orders were and still are highly active in South America.

The influence of the Prussian Army was very strong on every military. They invented the general staff and effectively modernised the training of reserves. Funnily enough they did this because of limitations set on the size of the Prussian Army by the victorious Napoleon, a phenomena that would repeat itself post 1919.

Also, them boys appear to be holding Lee Enfield rifles. Is that evidence of British influence in the same way that their helmets are evidence, apparently, of German influence?

The uniforms and coat scuttle helmets of the Chilean Army are obviously influenced by German uniforms.

The uniforms worn by General Pinochet were obviously influenced by German uniforms.

You can read about German influence in Haiti in Haitians: Their History And Culture
By Michele Burtoff Civa p10.

The Zimmerman Telegraph

You can read all about the Zimmerman telegraph which was a smoking gun that proved Germany sought Mexico to attack the U.S.

The message came as a coded telegram dispatched by the Foreign Secretary of the German Empire, Arthur Zimmermann, on 16 January 1917 to the German ambassador in Mexico, Heinrich von Eckardt. Zimmermann sent the telegram in anticipation of the resumption of unrestricted submarine warfare by Germany on 1 February, an act which Germany predicted would draw the neutral U.S. into war on the side of the Allies.[2] The telegram instructed Ambassador Eckardt that if the U.S. appeared likely to enter the war, he was to approach the Mexican Government with a proposal for military alliance, with funding from Germany. Mexico was promised territories in Texas, New Mexico, and Arizona that had been lost to the United States starting in 1836 as parts of the former Republic of Texas, and in 1848 with the Mexican Cession. Eckardt was also instructed to urge Mexico to help broker an alliance between Germany and the Japanese Empire. Mexico, unable to match the U.S. military, ignored the proposal and (after the U.S. entered the war), officially rejected it.
Zimmermann Telegram - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The experience of German activity early in the 20th century fueled paranoia decades later about the Soviet Union also trying pick up where the old European empires left off.

Irish-Americans, German-Americans, Italian-Americans and Latin Americans had risen quickly in all branches of the American military and intelligence services during WW2 which demonstrated the patriotic credentials of Catholics to the WASP elite in the U.S.

American Catholics were fiercely anti-communists as were Latin American regimes and the sins of German anti-communist Catholic Nazis were quickly forgiven.

The alliance between the Catholic dominated CIA, ex-Nazis, the Catholic Church and Latin American juntas was established immediately after WW2.

Also that helmet design eventually became the standard for most modern armies...............

Liberal and social democratic movements were heavily infiltrated and manipulated by pro-Soviets around the world during the Cold War.
This was especially true in Latin America which is why not only communists but left leaning organisations were all targets of brutal military and police crackdowns.
Liberation theology became popular among left wing Catholic priests and indeed the Catholic Church was infiltrated by communists seeking to manipulate Catholic teaching toward a pro-Soviet line.
Communists in South America played up Jesus as a proto-communist.
That is why right wing regimes killed many Catholic priests without any protest from conservative hierarchies or outrage from American Catholics.
