Ok but had he resigned as an independent would his seat not then have gone to a by-election as co-option would not have been suitable? And you share a picture of Willie O'Dea in his capacity as a democratically elected TD and Minister of defence, all while you quote a mass murderer in your signature. I know who the killer in this situation was, and if O'Dea had murdered the amount Trotsky had (or anyone for that matter), I certainly would not be an apologist for him.

No - there are no council by-elections in Ireland.

I have repeatedly pointed out how you were wrong with the nonsense you were spouting and you should just put your hand up and admit it and apologise.

yada yada - and you think it was appropriate for a 'democratically elected TD and minister for defence' to smile while he was pointing a gun at a camera?

I regard it as inappropriate and it made him look like a willie.

So a smile is more offensive than a man who orchestrated some of the most savage war crimes, and who massacred women, children and all who came in his path? People like you rightly condemn Pinochet and the likes, while you build your entire ideology around a man who was every bit as bad. I am no apologist for Pinochet, but Trotsky was a savage killer and that you cannot deny. I suppose murdering civilians is ok if they are (a) rich or (b) stand against your views regardless of class? Coming from a party that got 0.5% approval in the last poll I think your dismissal of O'Dea and Fianna Fáil is laughable. In fact, even Labour polled 14 times stronger than you in the last poll, so maybe it is time to stop using the "party of the people nonsense".

I can see too why your party dismisses a true revolutionary rising of the people in the shape of the Easter Rising. Trotsky himself dismissed it and I suppose, any group with a fanatical devotion to the idolatry of one man will find itself following his every word, even if that means condemning the history of its own country to endorse a toxic and foreign ideology.

Maybe you can clarify this.

Is it true that the AAA (socialist party) are against the Belfast agreement which was accepted by 95% of the electorate?

As always, late to the party, but Loftus should have first resigned from the Angry Plumbers and then resigned his seat. As an Independent resigning, if I am not wrong, he would have triggered a bi-election? Or, much like a certain member and Cllr. of Limerick Labour who went Awol prior to the 2009 locals, he could have just disappeared and left his seat vacant until it could be filled in an election.

Of course the second option is highly impracticable considering the time until the next election. However, the by-election option could work. He did not have the integrity to remain on the council, but the AAA, who selected him and clearly acted in a self-serving and opportunist way on this issue, has no right to play the self-righteous hero here.

In any case, who would the trots fill the seat with? Another headbanging ape who would follow comrade Cian. I can assure that Cian's joke status extends far beyond Limerick and has penetrated the fields and farms of the West :p
I would not categorise Cian Prendiville as a "Joke". He is playing the same game as the Gilmore, Rabitte and co. Political careerists did 30 to 40 years ago. It is just a pity that the electorate cannot see through this sham artist.

To be fair, at this stage all Comrade leader for life Clr Prendiville is left with in Limerick is the usual Trot circle and a dwindling handful of "useful fools" who still think the AAA (socialist party) is about water protests.

If not this election, it will be the next election that this Political careerist will realise the spoils of office. Labour and FG have a soft spot for the Socialist party, when it comes to keeping SF away from Political office.

With all due respect AFF - you really need to look to history rather than spout this kind of nonsense. Trotsky was head of the Red Army during a vicious and brutal civil war orchestrated by Britain and the western imperial powers. Atrocities happen in a civil war, none of which were carried out on the orders of Trotsky and all of which he accepted political responsibility for,

The irony is lost on you given your FF moniker given that your heroes also carried out atrocities during the civil war - atrocities that many in the future leadership of FF failed to accept political responsibility for.

And if your cannot see the inappropriateness of the said politician pointing a gun at a camera and smiling then there is nothing I can do to make you see it.

Shouting at the rear wall of the Pery Hotel in a vain attempt to disrupt a LP meeting within. Pathetic!

So according to you and williewatch, Cian Prendiville is a 'political careerist' while everyone else from FF/FG/LP/SF/Renua etc are all genuine politicians who only operate in the interests of the people they claim to represent.

Yet of all the political parties that will stand in the election only 2 - the AAA and the PBP have taken a principled stand on the issue of coalition while FF/FG/LP/SF/ Renua/SD all jockey for position to get their feet under the cabinet table.

I will take a principled 'political careerist' any day over the rest of the 'principled' politicians who will sell any and every principle they have to get into power.

Yet SF repeatedly state that they will go into coalition with FF (clearly SF's preferred option) or FG.

It is amusing to see the anti-AAA crowd claim that the AAA are spoofing when they reject coalition with the austerity parties and will abandon their principled position - while SF are spoofing when they say they will go into coalition with one or more of the austerity parties and they are pulling a stunt to get transfers before they fool the lot of them

I like my politicians to be pragmatic rather than ideologues exuding inflexibility and dogmatism. Funny that but that's life.

Tell me willie - what happens to SF's claim that they will abolish water charges when they get into government - and they do not end up in government?

Will SF point the finger at the voters and say 'its your fault more of youse should have voted for us?'

or will Adams go back to his previous position and say

'Well there is nothing we can do so I am now going to pay water charges on my holiday home in Donegal'

or (the most likely option)

'Its all the fault of the AAA - if they had called for transfers to SF we would have got more seats and got into government with FF and abolished water charges (FF are now in favour of abolishing water charges don't you know)'

You have answered your own question on spoofing, the AAA are the Socialist Party. This is the biggest spoof in Irish politics at the moment.

I know damn well that there is Political careerists in all shades of Politics but I have an issue with individuals like Prendiville, who are using misguided genuine people to advance his career. He is a carbon copy of Gilmore and Rabbite 30 years ago and how some of the electorate cannot see this is beyond me.

With regard coalition, the Socialist Party and PBP will probably attain max 5 seats between them, so it is easy for them to take a "principled stand on the issue of coalition"

FF embraced Democracy, which is a hell of a lot better than the subjects and servants of Marxism. Give me FF anytime over the murdering political philosophy of Marx, Lenin, Trotsky etc. It is a failed Political philosophy that is not natural for any sane person.
