Reports have just come in from South Africa that the veteran anti-apartheid leader, Winnie Mandela. has passed away.

She was married to Nelson Mandela for 38 years, including 27 years during which he was in prison. Although they were still married when he became president of South Africa in May 1994, the couple had actually separated two years earlier. Their divorce was finalized in March 1996

May she rest in peace.

She may well have been but it was her violence that saw off apartheid and not someone refusing to buy grapes in Dunnes stores.

No it wasn't, it was international pressure from national governments who helped people like P. W. Botha, accept that it was time for a change. Sadly that change has turned South Africa into a sh it hole where white people are now becoming refugees.

I read an autobiography of her years ago. She suffered immeasurably. She also dished it out.

That may be too nuanced for Pie. Lets face it, practically everything is.

Did she die with a burning tyre around her neck?

No?

Pity.

She spent 17 months in Solitary having been arrested under Vorster's Terrorism Act. Internment without trial effectively.

Is this a lesson for those fighting apartheid today? The BDS boycott is working and resorting to violence would just give the military and armed militia's another excuse for the killings.

Ding dong the witch is dead. I sincerely hope that there is a hell and that she spends eternity there with a pitchfork in her ass.

She made it clear early doors that the Half Nelson would never satisfy her needs and instead opted for the Soweto Slamdunker.

Violence on a far greater scale than in NI. average of 244 fatalities a month between 1992 and 1995.
